Lads I have been offered a council flat but it's a serious dive. I have a private let just now. Neet on pip. I was excited about the offer at first but when I googled it there's 50 odd flats and loads of headlines about lads from this block of flats running about with drugs, knifes, axes, violent charges. My little private let just now is very very quiet. There's only 5 of us on the block and my neighbours are very quiet. I know I'm lucky to get any offer but I'm starting to think I am better off staying where I am, trying to find a job again eventually.But if you have a council house you can keep it for potentially life so there is that. I just don't want to be sitting in a complete violent shithole down the line with druggy neighbours banging the walls wishing I was back in my little quiet flat. I know the street it's on, it's rough. The door for the stairwell is boarded up on both sides. The back door and the front door. From police knocking it in. I was kicked out of my last flat with hardly any notice because my landlord decide to sell it. She lied that her mum wanted to move in. Then sold it once I was out. Ever since then I've been quite paranoid about private letting. But on a day to day level I'd imagine living here is better than living in this council place. There is no rush to accept it at least. They are doing repairs. I will go for a viewing when it's ready.Don't know what to do now.

Landlord dragging her heels for over a year. She got a quote for repair finally, was expensive af. Next thing I got an email. "My elderly mother is ill, she wants to move into the flat" (the one with black mould...) "please leave the flat within the next x months".Funny thing, the flat just across the street was up for rent, contacted them, moved in. So my kitchen window looked right on to my old flat.
