I would like to get in to TCGs for the fun and social aspect of it. Where I get reminded that this isn't fun is when I realize how it's all p2w.
Yugioh is the most complex, the sweet spot would be MTG, as much I wanna play Pokemon I feel that it's player base are mostly children.
Should I just play poker or blackjack?

How the fuck does one play blackjack socially?
In my experience most people who actually play the Pokemon tcg are adults; the kids mostly just care about collecting the cards
Five years ago I would have told you to get into MtG, but now it has been enshittified by universes beyond slop

Do I go to gamshops and pay a $20 fee to play pokeslop? I been doing research and a decent deck is $20 as opposed to mtg

You can buy a set called Pokemon Battle Academy. It includes a playing board, rulebook, and 3 premade decks. Find a buddy to play with.

And if you get bored of playing those same 3 decks, you can buy other premade decks for like $20
