Sometimes, I fucking love being a millennial. While I may not have achieved the so-called "American Dream" or several other 'milestones' by this time in my life (late-30s), I still at least have memories of a time before the world went to complete shit, the world itself was a little bit brighter, more colorful, experiences were genuine, and there was at least an illusion of hope for the future. Now, everything looks like Minecraft, we have full knowledge that everything is fake and essentially a house of cards built on a foundation made of sand. It is what it is, but it isn't what it was.
>oh boo hoo, you couldn't go to prom because of covid.
>we woke up one morning, ate breakfast, went to school, and watched 3,000 people get murdered on live TV
>still kept it pushing
And yes, I would absolutely fuck the shit out of Lizzo. Don't pretend you wouldn't.
>>

I wasn't rich; I was just an only-child. I did live in a house a couple of times though, complete with a back-patio (screened-in) and a laundry room connected to the garage. Shit was so cash.

It's not b8; I've been thinking a lot about her lately, not sure why. But what prompted this thread was that I was earlier notified that Gen-Z apparently thinks we Millennials are 'cringe' or whatever, to which other Millennials chimed in about how we're not perfect, but at least we can read, write, and do other things the younger generations apparently can't.
>>
>>84007081
>I've been thinking about some famous obese nigger a lot lately
Whatever I guess
Regardless, thinking of generations as uniform blocks is retarded. Within each generation there are varying strata of normalfaggots with no agency and the end of the bell curve who possess it, and shades of each in between. Anything less is overly reductive and a useless model to think by.
>>
WOAW THE FRICKING NINETIES MAN REMEMBER
>>
>>84007017
In (original) strauss-howe theory Millennials have a "golden childhood" (all 'civic-gens' do) do to a few factors:
>1)growing up in good peaceful times (low anxiety)
>2)being raised moderately (not helicoptered parented(gen-z), nor neglected(gen-x))
>3)childhood right before a crisis era
They basically have perfectly balanced childhoods. This causes proceeding gens to be inadvertenlty nostolgic for the childhood of the civic-gen (millennial = 80s/90s/early 00s). So for example Gen-A and Gen-Z overwhelmingly perfer asthetics of millennial childhoods over thier own (avant basic, etc), even "frutiger aero" (gen-z's supposed distinct look) started in the late 90s.
>>
>>84007017
Literally every person alive acts like their generation was the last one to do stuff. You're not special.
Also, half of the "90s" shit that millennials obsess over was still relevant for most of the 00s, yet they act like it wasn't.
>>
>>84007017
I'm a zillennial and I'm in 100% agreement. Pre internet world was easier on the mind, people weren't as unhinged and the women weren't as aggressive. Letting sociopaths have control of such powerful technology destroyed any chance of society evolving.
>>
>>84007017
Based. Wish i had been born earlier, but still glad i got to experience the last good decay before the decay began.
>>
>>84007365
It's actually mostly about good ecnoomic times. Good times cause parents to be low-anxiety which means NO helicopter parenting, which means kids don't get anxiety, which means they know how get friends and get dates and stuff.
>>84007413
>Pre internet world was easier on the mind, people weren't as unhinged and the women weren't as aggressive.
There will be a cultural backlash against it. I've studied cultural cycles, they typically takes 60 for a reversal:
>1993-2013 people are naive to the negative consiqences (like: post ww1 cigarette use).
>2013-2033 people are aware it's bad but are addicted, govs/corpos exploit the situation making things shittier. BUT the backlash also begins in this era.
>2033-2053: Majority openly want change, the establishment fights it but lose ground
Basically it won't be until about 2050 before it becomes popular to avoid social media (it'll be considered low class to use social media, like drinking malt liqour).

>I did live in a house a couple of times though
In the 80s-90s in America you just lived in a house. Like that was still expected for anyone who worked.

My family was poor-ish and we had a basement, a screened-in patio, a big backyard, trees, two cars. So did everyone in my suburb. It was just normal.

God I miss those days so much, they don't even feel real compared to this hell. It's like everything we had is gone and home ownership is a silly concept like owning a golden yacht or a spaceship. Just being alive felt great, we looked forward to the future instead of fearing it. I'm glad I got to experience it but it's like this tease for how good life can be but I can't ever have it back.

what more than 5 minutes without childhood toys does to a millennial
>>
>>84008611
Look up the worlds largest toy collections.
Guess which single generation buys 70% of all toys. millennials
They buy more toys then all other gens combined. They buy 10x more toys then gen-z which itself buys 10x more toys then gen-x.

I think the 20 year period from 80's with stuff like transformers up until about Harry Potter were just so good to grow up. Zoomers seem to have a sad childhood dominated by phones but lacking toys and play with others. Before the 80's it more about playing with stones and a ball. Probably stronger friendship and group play though.
The coming generations and going to have to deal with a 24/7 AI snitch, ever notice they don't really have big toy sections in stores anymore.

>>84007081
Millennials were the type to make of you for not wearing the right shoes or a non name brand shirt, they were judgemental barsteds.

>playing with POGs -after- you got home from school
???

Brother POGs were played on the playground up until the very last minute that the teachers banned because kids were crying from getting bullied/scammed out of their collections and learning the hard life lessons of "you mostly lose at gambling".

Even when they were banned on school ground during school hours we'd have POG tournaments off to the side of the yard or across the street at a park.
>>
>>84009731
>Zoomers seem to have a sad childhood dominated by phones
I think that's moreso Gen A. For Zoomers their childhood defining trait is really coming home to the internet after school and raging in XBox voice chat, watching funny youtubers on youtube, etc.
A lot of Zoomers didn't get a cell phone until they were 15 or whatever, now Gen A kids are given smart phones at I don't even know what age - 7?

They did grow up on tablets though, they're the original ipad babies.

I'll also give zoomers credit for possibly being the last generation to have grown up on physical media by way of Blu Ray movies, and back when games still mostly came on a disc or cartridge instead of just being a download code.
>>
Same I love being a younger millennial (31). Had a nice childhood and got to eat jello pudding bites. When Obama was elected in 2009 life was objectively peak
>>
>>84007017
i feel like if the covid lockdowns had happened in 2005 teens would have had a wicked insane time with no school on, just all fucking off to the woods or staying at their friends' houses for weeks at a time playing smash bros 17 hours a day. it was such a lost opportunity really...im sure some teens had a kickin time but most seem to have just scrolled it away alone. yeah i KNOW you werent supposed to go outside but there used to be a little thing called SNEAKING OUT and without a phone they couldnt call you or track you. so yeah, it was sad.

the real difference between now and then though is just phones and social media trasharoni. in NYC theyve banned phones during the school day and the teens are suddenly like ALIVE again, talking fast and excited with each other instead of that deadeyed semi torpor of the allday phone addict. i hope everywhere else follows suit fast.

>2033-2053: Majority openly want change, the establishment fights it but lose ground
Hopefully the CIA doesn't learn from the other times people successfully changed the status quo.
>>
millenials are buck broken though

>lived in the best time to be a child
>lived in the worst time to be an adult

at least zoomers don't have any illusions on how things work while millenials still want you to trust the plan/trust the experts(tm)
>>
>>84010010
>>lived in the worst time to be an adult
but zoomers also live in these terrible adult times, while having grown up in terrible childhood times.

I hate how long nostalgia for the 90s has lasted too but I don't think it's going away.
>>
I mean I'm late 30s and can relate to some of these. I'm not American, though.
Most kids just like to have fun. Kids like to have fun.
I do think there's a significant line between pre- & post-internet, but that line has been well and truly crossed. I imagine people that are entering their 20s now will feel nostalgic for their youths, too.
>>
>>84007017
Millennials:
>vegan cults/meat alternatives
>BBC porn
>capeshit
>political "jokes" in everything
>rampant feminism to the point of female dominated society
>tranny faggotry(majority of troons online are Millennials)
>pro-Jewish/Israeli
>massive consumers, thanks to them Iphone kicked off
>majority of Millenials were vaxxie cattle
>MUH HECKIN SCIENCERINO
>numale/s*yboy was literally invented during their time and they look the part
>my wife's boyfriend
>majority is obese, bald and ugly because they never heard of self improvement
You can go on. It was an overall weakest and shittiest generation since WWI.

Millennials are the lowest-IQ, lowest-testosterone, lowest self-esteem, and most embarrassing generation in the history of humanity. When they were zoomer age, they were told to hate boomers. Now that they are old themselves, they hate boomers (ie - their parents), and now they hate zoomers. Millennials are just the whiniest, hate-filled generation with no self-responsibilities or self-accountabilities. They only know how to express hate, which is their survival mechanism to distract you from noticing what losers their generation is. Fat, bald, and low-T. No wonder they hate the chad generation.

The 90s were grimy. Everyone stank. The mullet was a popular haircut, let that sink in. Just way more redneck and nigger shit going on back then, it was out of control.
A lot of the woke shit that happened in the 2000s was a backlash towards that redneck/nigger shit, where they try to hold everyone back in the 60s and KKK days and just keep reliving everything and refuse to move on, aka, progressives. That why people wanted "progressives" in power.

The 90s were one of the peak decades in American history, the culmination of 50 years of postwar economic and cultural dominance. 90s America has a legitimate argument for being the greatest decade any country has ever had in world history. You are never going to stop hearing about it.
>>
>>84010220
It already went away, what're you talking about? Since 2020 the rage has been the 2000s. Y2K (2020-2022) then the mid-late 2000s (2023-2024) and now finally shit like Frutiger Aero and early 2010s aesthetics are becoming cool to be nostalgic for again as late zoomers and alphas get older and contribute to the culture.
Nobody gives a fuck about the 90s anymore.
The 90s are as lame in 2026 as the 1970s were in 2010.

>I miss the time before internet to be honest
It was objectively better. The entire world was never meant to be interconnected socially. It's a clownish concept and a verifiable failure. Every facet of life is just worse now.

I would rather call a travel agent to plan a road trip and pull over to the side of the road to read a huge paper map again instead of getting live directions than deal with the zombified populace that can't stop staring at Tiktok and Twitter rage bait.

The internet has radicalized children into deranged cultists who can't accept compromise. When I hear teenagers talk now, it's so wildly different than me and my friends in the 90s. It's like they're from a different dimension.
