Yeah, rather than say "we have no files pls hit up nasa or the jpl, etc" they had to use the glomar "can neither confirm nor deny" that means that they do have something but for national security purposes cannot admit to it or furnish such info. It's the equivalent of pleading the 5th amendment to avoid incriminating yourself. If the answer to the inquiry wasn't incriminating, you wouldn't need to plead the 5th.
So why would the cia even have files on a comet in the first place, if it's really just a comet? It doesn't jive. Worse still is that these files are being protected behind the same kinda legal response as a foreign state's nuclear sub's capabilities. It makes me wonder.
