Why aren't there, like, GENIUSES anymore? Like Newton type fucking ultra geniuses not Christopher Langon fucking retards? If there are, what are they up to? Is there a NEET somewhere who fucking devised a quantum theory of gravity as well as other shit so far ahead that we don't even know it exists yet?
>>84020389"If I have seen further, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants"
>>84020389>Why aren't there, like, GENIUSES anymore?because you refuse to be one
>>84020389You have to realize that because all the easy and fundamental stuff has already been developed you need to be highly specialized to make even small improvements. It's not possible for anyone to be a genius in that way anymore.
>>84020399I'm the genius of a generation?
>>84020389these people were either weeded out or recruited by the CIA.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JavPI3Iw7LE
>>84020420idk find it out yourself
they probably all die in obscurity and poverty
>>84020389Newton level geniuses are speedrunning video games in today's societyIf they were born 400 years ago they would be incredible scientistsIf Newton was born today he would be obsessed with Sonic the Hedgehog
Have you ever actually been around modern academia? Try it, you will immediately understand why genius doesn't exist (it is intentionally snuffed out by rigidity).
>>84020389Because it's all business nowThose geniuses back then, they were either already rich or had patrons/received grants to pursue their own personal projectsNowadays, the geniuses work for mega-corporations and in teams to develop "new" and "exciting" ways to optimize performance/algorithmIf they're in academia, their research is owned by the university they work for, and if it's published it online, it's behind a $50 paywall (which also doesn't go to them, it goes to the uni)Basically, shit's fucked
>>84020389normalfags took over the science scene
>>84020620>it's behind a $50 paywall (which also doesn't go to them, it goes to the uni)worse it goes to elsevier
>>84020389why do you write like a teenage girl?youre a grown ass man with a receding hairline
>>84020389they only hire girlbosses now
>>84020620I don't think you can be a genius and work on algorithms. That precludes you from the highest echelons of human thought and creativity.
>>84020467>If Newton was born today he would be obsessed with Sonic the HedgehogSounds like a comedy skit premise
>>84020669>He said 'like' once>LE TEENAGE GIRL AAAAAAACalm your tits bud
Ted Kaczynski...... was one of them
>>84020389well my show is at kandybarre.substack.com and im not saying im all that exactly but i at least understand quantum things, though im better at poetry than science (not careful enough). you can see my written work at drwae.substack.com, kandybarre.tumblr.com, and by searching "jambus" on the /lit/ archives. to my knowledge the only other good writer of poetry in existence is "father asemlen" on /lit/ and hes not even that interested in it aside from a few entries in the jambus. he writes stuff about "the void sun" otherwise, but i havent read it, could be wackadoo idk.to your main point though, i think there are as many science geniuses as ever, perhaps more, but as anons said it can be a little harder to tell when breakthroughs are more niche inside various fields n things. my uncle gets called on by AMD to solve problems no one else can sometimes, he gets paid a fuck lot to be on retainer for this and just does things hes interested in by himself the rest of the time. if he was forced to work together with other geniuses on something bigger, who knows what could happen.
>>84020389there's nothing lest to discover, just previous works to continue. did you think anyone would care about newton if that apple didnt fall on his head and he came to the astonishing discover that...things fall...but WHY do they fall?
>>84020389Because humanity is 8 billion people and you don't matter.
>>84020389not doxxing myself>>84020969>there's nothing lest to discovercomplete bullshit, the majority of ideologies and "systems" are 100% primitive
>>84020389A lot of them weren't really geniuses, just people with a lot of free time to study and develop theories, the correct ones stuck.Today the idea of patrons letting you spend your time in such stuff is no longer a thing, you either wageslave and drain your resources like time and brain power or suck corpodick for some sponsors which is worse than wageslave.
>>84020389>quantum>gravity...what?>ultra geniusesNewton was not a genius. If you just mean math nerds who can synthesize shit well, Terrence Tao and Ilya Sutskever are probably in your boat. Basically anyone leading the AI bubble is a genius. Elon Musk was the last most obvious one until he got old. Jamie Dimon is considered a genius. Craig Venter was one.

>>84020389Geniuses are all tremendous cunts (Newton was a maniac), and largely their genius was funded by people who let them be tremendous cunts in the knowledge that, despite their cuntiness, they would do great work. It's a huge social and capital investment to give a derange maniac all the time and money in the world he needs to come up with deranged ideas. There was a guy whose name I forgot who did a video about this, and basically, universities have completely lost the incentives to prop up and tolerate asshole geniuses, so they don't.
>>84020389Neoliberal society is extremely hostile to alternative viewpoints so most of the intelligent end up keeping to themselves. That or they end up getting recruited by glowies like anon >>84020429 points out
>>84021378Universities are mentally retarded. Also VCs fund plenty of deranged maniacs. The advances made in technology in my lifetime have done more than a thousand years of "geniuses" before. We just take it for granted because academics stay in academic circles and nobody really cares about academic literature.
>>84020467Kek I can actually believe this, these speedrun autists truly are incredible.Gotta also give a shout out to those tranny devs that work on emulators they are our brightest
>>84021421>Also VCs fund plenty of deranged maniacs. The advances made in technology in my lifetime have done more than a thousand years of "geniuses" before. We just take it for granted because academics stay in academic circles and nobody really cares about academic literature. This is also a big part of it.
Theres less room for all encompassing theories just like theres no countries to discover. The work thats being done is a tedious grind like trying to make fusion reactors work or building a giant haedron collider.Less fancy and elegant than something like principia matematica but is a marvel of engineering.
>>84020389There are but they're all males and society hates men so they either troon out or accept mediocrity and die a lonely death.
