Busy weekend ahead. Going to go later to watch the umamusume movie that came out a while back but just got released in US theaters last weekend.
Also won a tiny Makima plushie from a crane game. Life is good

>Big money moves
need to get the numbers up high. Forbes tells me inflation is most severe for those unfortunate folks who make under $350k a year!
>fujimoto taps into that feeling of childlike powerless beautifully
not just that, but also conveys very well the characters are essentially stuck in childhood trauma despite being in positions of absurd responsibility and power. It's one of the things I like about these mangas and find relatable as somoeone who's probably wayyy more immature in some ways given stuff I'm responsible for

>>84081002
>Hopefully that pans out
thank you! Not sure how much I'll enjoy any job in my field, but I'm so sick of my current employer I'd hop anywhere at this point. New place at least won't have made me resentful just yet!
> Is there such a thing as a good split?
the problem is, this is all fairly regular behavior. It comes and goes like this quite frequently throughout the time you've posted here and sure goes back before that. I know she has taken drastic actions in the past that add weight to the behavior, but at the same time
>I have no idea if I'll hear from her again
again, I think I said, maybe you will at some point, but it sounds like the best thing you can do is give some space. I don't mean this a bad way, but I think you talking to her can't help much either way, so in reality it's just pulling your mood down
>>

>We did!
glad you had a nice time. And aviary is an excellent choice, but I'm a fan of birds so am biased
>passport bros because she mentioned I'm nothing like them.
If she's local, makes sense. Those type are hard not to notice and it never ceases to amaze me how trashy a good chunk of them act. I think also I've mentioned before, but my experience with women in Asia was that they expected white guys from the west to act loud and arrogant, so if you're more laid back and less forward, it does genuinely come as a shock.
>The jury's still out on that.
That is something! In my opinion, it's rare to do such thing unless you're somewhat close to someone, so at the very least it's a good sign
>>

Hey gamers. I'm feeling a little out of it today, maybe a little restless, but otherwise fine.

>but I'm so sick of my current employer I'd hop anywhere at this point
That's as good a reason any to jump ship. No sense in spending half your time somewhere you hate.
>it sounds like the best thing you can do is give some space.
Probably. I'm trying my best to exercise restraint and not reach out (and haven't for a few days) but I feel like I fail at that constantly.

>>84085007
>And aviary is an excellent choice, but I'm a fan of birds so am biased
Birds Are Very Important
>it never ceases to amaze me how trashy a good chunk of them act
I've had second-hand distress from some of the stories she's told me, I'm baffled that other humans can act like that.
>if you're more laid back and less forward, it does genuinely come as a shock
She seems almost fascinated by me being a quiet nerd who's been very open about setbacks and failures. I guess I'm the polar opposite of the westerners you run into here. She also really likes my hair which probably helps.
>it's rare to do such thing unless you're somewhat close to someone
That's true, I probably wouldn't share a drink with someone I don't know that well either.

>trying my best to exercise restraint
best you can do is your best. No shame in caving, but at same time I don't think it's good for you and don't think it makes huge impact if her problems as cyclical as they seem
>Birds Are Very Important
incredibly intelligent and for those who've own them, can be very affectionate. Parrots especially are underrated imo, but some of them are quite the large amount of effort.
>second-hand distress
i knew of this english teacher who mooched off girls in Asia, ended up owing a ton of money to lots of girlfriends, kept getting fired for making inappropriate comments to girls he taught (who were of course teens), and then made complaining posts when he went back to the west about how living in Asia took everything from him. As much as I like Asian countries and women I could never bring myself to teach just because the rep so many of those guys have for being scumbag losers.
>who's been very open about setbacks and failures.
honestly goes a long way. Being white in Asia makes you stand out among locals. Not being an ass and acting decent makes you stand out among foreigners as well, which is all around a good thing
>I probably wouldn't share a drink with someone I don't know that well either.
I don't believe otherthinking things is good either, but I don't think most women would at all, especially not an Asian, would do that with a guy they met not too long ago if there wasn't some chance of something going on

You're probably right about that. If there was a magic combination of words that would fix everything I probably would have said them by now.

There were some in the aviary. Apparently one was saying the word for grandma over and over again, which is pretty funny.
>I could never bring myself to teach just because the rep so many of those guys have for being scumbag losers
I think it's pretty much the same here.
Speaking of, I remember reading a story somewhere about someone on the JET program in Japan getting a JK pregnant and then quietly being shuffled to another school.
>Not being an ass and acting decent makes you stand out among foreigners as well
I'm definitely defying a lot of the stereotypes, which is probably a good thing.

My hatred for humanity is growing stronger the more I interact with these retards
Humans ruin every-fucking-thing
Like 2% of the global population are decent people, but their contributions don't make up for the vast sea crimes committed by the human race.
I fucking wish we would just go extinct already
I'm not doing anything about climate change, not because I don't believe it but because I just want this species to fucking end already

I recently had an increase in violent, homicidal fantasies and they became more vivid
I'm near constantly pacing around my room with these horrific maladaptive daydreams

I have grown very suicidal over the past couple of weeks and it's getting worse
I am getting closer to slashing my wrists but I don't want to go back to the hospital with all the incompetent retards they hire

I fucking hate life

hear stories about people or their pets pissing them off and regretting it. Quite fond of them as well. Remember seeing videos of some guy in Russia with a crow and they are amazingly bright with puzzles they can solve and do have the same affectionate behavior you see with other birds

>family stuff we talking about?
someones birthday semi celebration. Had some food, saw my brother, and mostly played FGO and Umamusume when my dad was off on his political tangent
>what was the plot?
[insert horse girls name] wanted to be fasted horse girl, but [insert rival horse girls name] stood in her way. Honestly, it's like the anime seasons (which there are 4 of) just condensed, it's all the same formula. Slightly different events (they loosely adapt real world stuff like the rival getting hurt and having to stop), but in the end the appeal is if you like the individual horse girls characters, watching over dramatic races, seeing silly anime-ness, and hearing the songs in theaters. It's not great as a movie, but it's fun if you like the franchise.

>When was the last time you hurt yourself?
A few minutes ago.
>Why did you hurt yourself?
Anger and depression. I'm frustrated with my job situation, how I can't find work no matter how hard I try, and every job I've had has made me want to kill myself. My life feels so goddamn hopeless and meaningless and I want to end it all already.
>Is there anything bothering you right now?
Besides the above, I wish I could be a knight. Not a "realistic knight" but the kind from fantasy novels. I wanna ride around in a suit of armor and help those in need. I want to slay dragons and rescue peasant villages from danger but instead I'm forced to retype the information already on my resume into the job application form.

I might kill myself. Cutting is the closest thing I have to suicide.

a lot of people like that nowadays
it's fucked
I really enjoyed the lockdowns during covid and so on but it really has taught companies how little employees they actually need to make money, ao instead of hiring new people you can overworked the existing ones and becouse oh how the system they created theee people won't be able to find a job elsewhere wo you can overwork them even more
plus you can plus cheep overseas labor online, plus AI now
All while there are individual people with more money than whole countries profiting off of this and make sure it doesn't get better

honestly, I spent like 10 bucks for my ticket, and another 15 for snacks. As long as these "not really a movie" anime films aren't full price, I don't see a problem with it and most cinemas aren't at full capacity half time anyway for any film so a handful of people seeing over 2 weekends probably isn't bad and I do enjoy the snacks

>really hinges on you being the type of person who gets emotionally attached to your horse girl(s) of choice
i suppose there's no point to not just follow the releases that focus on specific characters. it's a strange way of engaging with an ip like that, though actually not that different from wargaming in that regard.

>As long as these "not really a movie" anime films aren't full price, I don't see a problem with it
makes sense. cinemas get more and more expensive here and focus more one "the experience". guess they have to do something to get people to spend money, but they could start with showing more interesting or at least novel movies. if we ever get anime movies, it's just the big ones. took them long enough to show anime in general, though.

Yee, i think so that I can keep my individual therapist when I leave, but they are also doing other stuff like psych med managment too.

She's gone cold on me and I fear that /cat/ may have been right in thinking she just wanted to get her grippy socks on me... At least I'm not that upset this time.
In other news, I'm looking into doing a little project with Meshtastic, and my bruise has a T shape missing from it where the cut's healed, which looks pretty funky.

>what's that?
It's a messaging service that runs on little radios on a frequency you don't need a license for. Each radio serves as a repeater so the coverage gets bigger and messages can go over a longer distance.
I have no idea what the coverage is like where I live, but if I'm lucky I might be able to chat with a couple of radio nerds. I live in an area full of high-rises so the coverage might suck.
There's a competing standard called Meshcore which seems to work better with more users, so I might give that a try as well to see if anyone's using it.
It doesn't cost much to try so it might be worth looking into if you need a project and have $15 to spare.
>that's unexpected
Yeah, it looks really weird. No sign of the bruise going away yet, unfortunately, but I probably need to give it a while before worrying.

not sure if possibly being attracted to a therapist is a good thing, but as long as you're aware of it, there should be no harm. reminds me of the time a friend went to group therapy and asked out his therapist after it was clear the group wouldn't continues. she told him that she'd be interested, but already is in a relationship. he felt good about the whole thing, so i wrestled the "she's good..." down and decided not to comment. it was a hard battle.

>at least you have a goal to beat and a reason to grind
i've beat him with that character before and i'd argue that the more you grind and unlock cards, the less likely it becomes to get a consistently good deck by the end. anyways, i just got unlucky that the random final boss was the one that can turn itself undamageable every other turn. :p

>more like a sphere around you
now that you mention it, i see.

>skyboxes sometimes have an issue of looking to obviously like a big box with a texture on
i guess that's especially true for open maps. if you do one that's very busy or with sight-blocking terrain, it becomes less obvious.

>i've played a lot of metroidvanias, but i think i tend to favor the "vania" part if i think about the games i've played
I wonder which game contributes which mechanics to the metroidvania genre? Playing Super Metroid all the metroidvania tropes I've come to know from other games were present, I think the genre name comes less from those games bringing unique from each other and more being similar. Like soulslikes or roguelikes only share 1 game with their name since there was nothing like either of them at the time (presumably). Or maybe I'm wrong, I'll see when I beat castlevania lol

There are other perks like free doctors appointments and vaccines sold at cost and access to the dental clinic. They already let the students use it so I guess it's not too much of a resource stretch to let the staff use it too. Plus I'm technically a student here, even though they pay me.

No, but I moved somewhere without free healthcare for work. I think GP appointments here are about 6 euros here if you go to a public clinic, or 45 if you go private for shorter wait times.
Flu shots aren't too expensive either.
>people say you shouldn't do that
It's probably not the best idea but certain foods make you sleepy.
>what other plans do you have for today?
Mostly just housekeeping stuff and folding cardboard boxes. There was a fire (I think) in my apartment complex when I was out, so I had to stand outside with everyone for a while before getting let in. That was an intersting change of pace. I'll try to sleep in the next hour or so.

A smaller firefighter job. It doesn't pay as much as others, but it's a start.

I think spy family is funny. some of the spy stuff is neat and the absurd gag feats are a fun to watch.
jjk has been a really good action series. it's no chainsaw man, but the Shibuya Incident was one of the greatest fight scenes ever animated. The judge in the culling game was unexpectedly real for the show.

>>84132505

never had that at home, but I remember having some at a very nice inn room when I was staying in the very deep south. Just one and it roll on it's back and died. Creeped me out at first but i talked to the owner and it's kinda hard to avoid those types of places.

hey cynic how are you?
> what did you think of the new csm chapter?
Not sure how I feel about this one. I was expecting bad things to happen, like him killing Asa with Yoru, but this caught me off guard. At the same time I also didn't think Denji would get to be Chainsaw man at the end of this all so thought so something had to happen with Pochita and him being seperated, just maybe not this. Want the next chapter to hurry up and come out faster since don't know what to expect will happen with the finale. Honestly would be disappointed if nothing ever happened as a result of this, but i think they've shown that Pochita erasing things doesn't as neatly undo everything and it has limitations. Honestly could go a lot of ways I'm not even trying to guess at this point

>>84134967
>Hope you're having fun.
having an absolute blast so far, it's quite fun trying to make everything make sense and fit together, cus it's so rewarding when it finally does. it's a pretty abstract concept, so sometimes it's hard playing with topics cus i set for myself that some elements within the story are not possible for the human mind to comprehend, and the writing should reflect that.

>I wonder which game contributes which mechanics to the metroidvania genre?
i think the exploration and progression aspect mostly comes from metroid, but the settings are usually more on the fantasy side. can't think of many sci-fi entries into the genre besides metroid. maybe axiom verge.

>I'll see when I beat castlevania lol
it's mostly referring to symphony of the night if i remember correctly. the other castlevanias are rather linear in theit design.

friend of the family had issues with drugs as well. you can get them off that stuff, but they might need help to do it and even then, if they don't understand why they have to stop, it's especially difficult. you might need to get someone else involved. it's not something that will sort itself out by itself, i'm afraid.

i write down everything interesting to me dw, i've got like 20+ pages of stuff atp, it's just putting the puzzle pieces together and further developing that that's a bit difficult, especially since i'm trying to cover topics that the actual human mind can't fully comprehend, like irl and not just inside warhammer. god that sounds pretentious now that i hear myself say it, but i don't think i'm exaggerating that much

feels bad in the moment, but overall it's good for a game to have a bit randomness. i also had bad luck with my draws in that fight. drawing all my block cards on turns where the boss just applied buffs and debuffs, leaving me wide open on turns where it did damage. such is life.

It's a frontend for emulators that includes a buncha consoles through it's "core" system. Some systems still require bios files but a lot work out the box, and being a frontend you can tweak settings for all your emulated consoles from a single menu. Really cool stuff, I've only ever used emulators for single systems before so this is new to me.

Very high IQ moment. But yeah, it's interesting and difficult because it makes sense to have those things, but also need to be done well to not make it seem like a cop out for not designing something well since these things gets abused a lot in design

>>84135909
>I never were a fan but silent hill made me be fine with them
definitely a product of their time, but have their own charm. Works mainly with slower paced games
>I didn't know there was a remake for gamecube
yes! the original resident evil remake. First re game came out ps1 in 96, and they remade that in 2002 for gamecube and that's really the optimal way to play the game. Tank controls but graphics look quite nice still even for today with prerendered backgrounds. Mansion is my favorite horror game setting. You should definitely play that if you can, my top recommendation for any game honestly.

>>84135964
>miku's been around for a while
Miku is pretty much timeless at this point. I got one of those figures and was walking out shamelessly and heard some teen kid yell out "THAT GUYS GOT HATSUNE MIKU", so younger kids knowing her isn't that surprising to me at this point
>throwing your money away would be a better investment
it's a shame. I think making them harder is fine, but unwinable sucks. My math is I get the figure cheaper than I can buy them, but not so much the place doesn't make some money. And it's actually fun when it's challenging enough but can win. Right balance all along.

There's no real risk to damaging the system since the BIOS files are all made for legacy consoles, the real annoyance is finding all of them online and putting them in the right directories. It's pretty straightforward on a PC but with an xbox it's difficult to navigate.

It's a hobby from a couple of generations ago, I think. I think there's a strong community of men of a certain age into radio in most places. I think I saw my local radio club once as a kid.
Usually you need a license for amateur radio, but you don't for the thing I'm using so it's a bit easier to get into.

It's probably that. It's not uncommon for people to have one running off a solar panel. I might do that if my new antenna ends up picking up stuff.
>>

I've heard if the license thing, but does anyone really care to check nowadays? Unless you're encroaching on someone else's frequency, who'd ever know?
>>
>>84147714
At least in the UK, the radio regulator seemed pretty aggressive when it came to enforcement (just about the only thing they do enforce), partly because other operators would catch you almost immediately and then snitch on you. I'd imagine it's the same in the US unless you're in a really remote area broadcasting with really low power, but that kind of defeats the purpose of using a radio. Most countries will give you a huge fine for unlicensed broadcasts too, so it's probably not worth the risk.
That said, it's basically undetectable if you're only listening and not broadcasting.

How are you guys? :>

That's true. I'm not even sure if the contents of my apartment would cover my rent...

Great movie. Have you watched it before?
>How are you guys? :>
I'm alright. About to head to bed ahead of a pretty long day tomorrow with my new fren.

never ever
So far my thoughts are that my views of despising the military is correct

>Really cool stuff, I've only ever used emulators for single systems before so this is new to me.
sounds interesting. maybe i should look into it as well. never used any emulators before, though. then again, i've got enough games i should play before distracting myself with other stuff

>horrible cause you feel you missed an obligation or horrible cause it hurts?
i've not felt well physically for a while now. lots of different aches and missing my workouts definitely makes it worse. though i had some back issues as well and needed the break, but try to to let it get to me if i miss some sessions.

>I love Namek
it's a great design for sure.

>Being a namekian is probably pretty chill.
it has it's perks, but there are some oddities...

>>84137785
>I think they have training for stuff like that.
they really need it. it's quite the awkward situation for them.

>your body has an uncanny ability to spite you just for the hell of it.
for real. even if it does what i want, there's usually a catch.

>it only works if I remember to write stuff down once I get out the shower
what happens in the shower, stays in the shower. i should write things down more often, too.

>>84140013
>Cygames must have spied on my phone
would be more of a surprise if they didn't

>I've been blessed with good drop rates magically now.
what did you get?

>so younger kids knowing her isn't that surprising to me at this point
i just wonder where they get in contact with it. i had to dig pretty deep back then

>not so much the place doesn't make some money.
they get their money's worth. it's just some piece of plastic, after all.

>is rude theater goers
honestly, after i went to the bathroom and it had shit smeared all over the wall, that was the moment i decided i don't really need the "cinema experience". that said, people in bigger cities usually are worse than smaller towns in that regard.
>>
Well friends, I think I'm going to be going through absolute hell for a while once the shock of some news wears off. You've helped me so much already but I might really really bring the mood down.

hi catbro!

>What are your plans for today?
worked out today. it was rough, but i'm glad i did it. i'm exhausted rn, but it's the good kind of exhausted. how was your day?

>>84149366
>honestly, i'm hoping to transfer to the place I was rejected from in Jan.
good luck with that. hope it works out for you.

>The two countries are literally two identical copies of Berlin.
i just don't like east/west german stuff in media, so i opted out. it's an aversion i can't get over.

>The setting is really cool, but the protag goes through the same character arch each episode.
i enjoyed the series overall, but i see what you mean.

>I didn't like jjk
i liked the first season well enough, but i'm still so booty blasted from tenjou tenges shitty bait and switch that i despise it when a show stops dead in it's tracks for a prequel backstory i literally do not care about. officeanone said i should try again as well, so i'll probably do at some point.

I have my suspicious what it might be
If it'll make you feel worse maybe you shouldn't say it yet, take it easy on yourself so you can process it in peace, after a bit you could make or write something to sorta honor the memory and make moving forward easier
You might not feel like it but you have been doing the right things, sending hugs

i've played a lot of the classics when they were just new games... ^^' that said, of course i didn't have every system back then, so some games did elude me. played a lot of them at some point, though. what mostly kept me from emulating anything was not having a pc for over a decade.

>excellent place to start
thanks for pointing me in the right direction. i'll check it out.

>Nowadays I emulate more than I play anything new
sensible approach. do tell more about your future emulation exploits.

>Hopefully getting back into routine alleviates it a bit.
it should. just need to start slow and work myself back into it.

>Foods overrated and not having sex organs is whatever
fair. who needs either anyway

>worth it for the swag and powers
the do be cool powers... then again, the permanent fusions and self-cloning by vomiting an egg are on the weirder side. even for dragon ball.

>>84151835
>here it's starting to get warm even in the shade :0 but this whole week os supposed to be cold and rainy
we're not quite out of the winter, it seems. shouldn't be to long now, though. any minute...

>I'm a pretty anti war guy so I sorta wasn't surprised
well, most people are. though i'd say a movie doesn't need to be surprising to be a downer. good it wasn't for you, though.

>I'm waiting for trees to be green again
hm. i think i'll just let them surprise me.

i do my workout without my glasses, so my field of view is rather limited. nothing newy though. just the same places as always.

gonna head to bed. good night.

how do I make myself addicted to cutting?

Everytime I cut, I have to actively force myself to do it in the same way I have to force myself to shower or brush my teeth since im deeply depressed. I rarely ever even get the urge to cut myself in the first place, i only ever feel it when im feeling extremely intense emotions.

I just wish I had the urge to cut as frequently as other mentally ill people do.

I think people are less ashamed of it than in the past and therefor more vocal about and maybe some series are more commonly recognizable, but I still don't see there being much a shift in terms of people being fans. Long, meandering blogpost. Feel free to ignore.
I think today went as well as it possibly could, all things considered. I got basically no sleep last night after the news.
I'd arranged to go to the aquarium/theme park with the friend I made at the conference but told her I wasn't sure if I'd be able to go given everything. She offered to visit me and I gave her the tour of my apartment. We talked for a while and she was able to cheer me up to the point of getting out of the house and we had a lot of fun together at the theme park. At a few points I had to hold back tears from a combination of the situation, how much you guys have helped me so far despite being a complete stranger, and the kindness I was being offered by her.
After that we talked some more, and got a pizza. After that I very stupidly and awkwardly asked if she wanted to come back to my apartment (I didn't mean anything seedy by it but it came out really badly). She explained she had mixed feelings about me but wanted to spend more time with me that evening, so we talked some more. I failed basically every speech check after that and she was getting kind of fed up with me, but eventually I opened up about how thankful I was for her today and wasn't able to hold back the tears. She cried as well and we tried our best to comfort each other. We hugged and it felt really nice, so we just kept hugging each other until it was midnight and we had to catch the last trains home.
It had been years since I've been hugged by anyone and I really, really needed that.
Today went from a nightmare scenario that I was dreading facing to probably the best day I've had in years. Once again, I'd like to thank you all for your support over the last few months. I cannot overstate how much you've all helped.

Normally around 12-1AM but my schedules been messed up for a week or so. Falling asleep at 7AM now.

Nothing usually, when I fall asleep it's because I'm so exhausted that I can't do anything else. Otherwise posting to this thread and listening to music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qj09zQBuk7E
>want a link?

I liked it so sure. It's best if you go in fully blind, even a synopsis spoils too much. Dreamy segments mixed with sudden violence.
>It's actually a recreation of lsd dream emulator areas, I'll try to remake all of them, at least partially
Ah makes sense, did you play the game yourself as well? I think that'd help with getting the scaling right (although I guess whatever source game you play it in skews the scaling a little but whatever)
>>
>>84160104
>Falling asleep at 7AM now.

Like I brush my teeth, open windows in my room, lay in bed watching watching something that's not very exciting and when everyone else is asleep I close the window, turn off everything and think about something nice and I eventually fall asleep

yep, a lot
>skews the scaling a little but
yep but honestly FOV is the biggest factor, in lsd fov if 50, in source it can go only as low as 75 normally, still it's not that bad, there also LSD dream emulator revamped, I can change to fov there to see if all if correct and make the resolution higher

anyways eep time gn!
