4chan and /r9k/'s decline can partially be explained by the new captcha system that has been implemented for some time now. They keep getting more and more annoying, too. Not only do you have to solve 4 captchas anytime you want to post, but you also have to wait an entire minute to receive the captchas in the first place.This is obviously discouraging people from posting, especially more casual posters and lurkers. Even I don't post anymore unless it's something I really want to get out.
