Because you don't treat it like a video game. You don't care about scoring points or achieving objective. You don't think "I have to kill 100 slimes to level up" and your mind is instantly fixated on grinding these slimes and in doing so leveling up, learning the game mechanics and preparing to complete the first quest or get into the nether, you wander back to tutorial village and your peasant hut and sit in it the rest of the game.
