People voted for COVID-19 lockdown/fiscal policies that did result in a mass wealth transfer because they thought it was life-saving (and by all measures it was), but AI is promising something vastly worse with essentially no upsides except for the ultra-wealthy, and nobody in politics is treating it with any seriousness. Almost all of it is up to a few oligarchs who essentially buy the president's decisions at any moment.
