To me, they don't as much as tattoos. they are still disgusting when done to excess and will leave holes if removed. They just make you susceptible to injury for no other reason other than to somehow to "express" one self or demand attention. Now, if you rub into a corner wrong or fall hard you might just tear something off. To me, it's shallow and inherently revealing of someone that I don't want to associate with as they are inherently showing a narcissistic side by trying to express oneself through strange body modifications like this. The modification level to excess just reveals someone who demands to be "different" or demands attention. That's almost the opposite of my avoidant tendencies, and it's not someone who I want to associate with.I actually don't know why I hate tattoos more, as at least there might be some artistry in it. The shallowness of the symbol chosen is still more meaningful to me than whatever random piercings are supposed to represent. The piercings are just a call for attention. Perhaps it's that most piercings are often not done to that excess or are removable. Past a certain point, when it's all over the face or body it's just indicative of further mental illness and personality disorders. I don't mind it if it's just on the ears.
