with all the suffering in the world, seeing what kind of shitty experiences humans can have, instead of stepping up and helping those around me to the best of my ability, all i can do is wallow in self pity and do nothing like the coward that i am while thinking about how unfair and cruel the world is

In making this thread you have made a valuable contribution. You've spread the message of compassion in what is arguably one of the most despairing websites on the internet. Good going.
>>84172187Compassion is a lonely road, anon. I think that genuine compassion in the face of suffering requires a lot of courage, courage most people don't have, because you're taking on the pain of others. Most people can only harden themselves and close their hearts. They want to ignore the suffering, they don't want to feel that pain. But such ignorance and callousness only breeds more suffering. Simply being worried that you're not doing enough is far more than they will do. It paints your every action and decision, and will ensure that even if you can't make the world a better place, you definitely won't make it worse. I think that the world is a beautiful place, and it would be perfect if not for so many people intentionally and unintentionally making it worse. Every kind thought and action helps nudge the world back the other way, into balance. You're a good person, anon. Keep it up.
>>84172187its ok op, its not your place to fix all the big problems going on in peoples lives, though the impulse is admirableyou can start making the world a better place by going easier on yourself, you dont deserve to be called a coward for instance <3simply sharing kind words with a stranger, or exchanging a smile with someone you pass on the street, little things like that are a good place to continue
