One time I went with a ghoul hunter and invited the ghouls inside the tower (i forget the name) just so I could kill more of them.Usually my favourite is BOS questlines though. I hate what they did to them in fallout 4 and the new tv show.
I loved fallout 3, it killed me as a kid that I couldn't progress because I hardlocked myself because my disc was second hand and scratched up. Fallout NV I also enjoy, played quite a bit of it modded too. It will be scaled to what level you are, but you can get things with good legendary effects, crafting recipes, and camp plans. Also look into making a good build for yourself. Unlike fallout 4, you can actually specialize and have to play a certain build to not wind up being a weak Jack of all trades. My build is a shotgunner with the gauss shotgun (a new late game weapon you get after basically completing the main quest line and grinding for gold) it's pretty fun, and is a bit different from the usual AR or heavy weapons based builds you see most people running

The main reason I want to play the early games is because I know they're good and praised to kingdom come. But the mechanics in those games turn my brain to mush.

Online only, however it is relatively easy to not interact with the online aspect of the game at all even in a busy public map. Depending on where you build your camp and how you go about exploring the world you may genuinely not come across another player at all for multiple sessions of gameplay. And even if you do, it's not like there's a live chat system and 99% of people leave eachother alone unless you explicitly try to get their attention.

I would reccomend getting Ian and Dogmeat.Survival decides how much control you have in overworld encounters, and one of the best ways to get loot early on is an encounter where friendly NPCs are fighting hostile NPCs. >>84229869In my personal opinion, NV is way above 3 because it gives you the actual freedom of choice, the world is more grounded and realistic (fuck megaton and it's braindead logic for existing), the characters aren't complete cardboard cutouts like fallout 3, and generally it has a little more care put into its design.3 and 4 feel like Bethesda wanted to make a set story game where you walk through a hallway and get told a cinematic story like tomb raider or uncharted or something, but realized last minute they bought a rpg franchise so had to scramble to make them open world and give you the illusion of choice and impacting the world. And they can't even write a good story for it to be such a concrete narrative in the first place.
