everything competes. they battle for resources, for hierarchy. and while some battles hold little stakes like video games or imaginative play, others have much more dire stakes. if you can't compete for a woman's heart, you may lose the chance to find a mate. if you cant compete professionally, your career is in jeopardy. where do the losers go? what happens to someone who can't seem to find victory? well they retreat. losing means that you have to find somewhere else to be. if mcdonalds doesnt accept you, try burger king. though, with too much rejection, a person believes they are simply not meant for something in the world, in a broader category. no success in jobs? you are unhirable. no success in love? you are unloveable. no success in talking to people? you are weird. so the smallest outlets, the tiniest gaps or areas where you can win, is where you spend time, pushed away from everything else. but those reclusive outlets are overrun with rejects just like you, who don't fit in anywhere else, who hold higher positions than you at this fixation. is there a point? of being continuing a life as a loser in every category? the only battle some can have and win is suicidal thoughts. so long as they're alive, they've won something. but it's so empty and meaningless. a woman won't look at your pitiful struggle and be smitten with you. a business doesn't see how hard it is everyday to cope with your existence, and they certainly have no incentive nor obligation to help those with a lackluster, effete defeated soul. we're only here on the mercies of those above us, not because we made our way in the world, no different from life support vegetables. sure there is a chance at recovery but it grows slimmer every day. defeat is the end. and if everything you can think of, you have been defeated on, then you have nothing left to live for, existing in limbo until a great miracle or catastrophe happens.
