i had a friend like this. i had to learn through trial and error that a real friend doesnt constantly criticize you or give you loyalty tests or gaslight you into thinking everyone else is laughing at you. it's easy to see the manipulation in hindsight but in the moment the lightning rod attention and support they give you is addicting
