Did your family preserved their romanian roots? Do you think your way of thinking or cultural references are somehow aligned to Romania or are you totally assimilated to the US? I have double nationality, one of them being from eastern europe and the other one being south american (where I live) and I don't feel neither eastern european and neither totally south american, which is kind of sad.

I started feeling more American as I got older, saw how many Romanians still have the communist mindset, very lazy, involved with drug trafficking, prostitution, etc. The last election really got me riled up as well, and I was viciously attacked on facebook by Romanians for voting as a diaspora and saying the supreme court rigged the election on behalf of the EU.One thing that always crosses my mind is, regardless of how American I am, my genetics are still Romanian. My dad's family, for instance, has been in Arad as far back as the census recorded, and it even shows up in genetic tests. I feel more close to romanians in romania than i do to some hispanic catholic american or black protestant american for sure.
