It's mostly a mental and social thing. With time you get used to be being short and ignore it. But the social aspect of it will follow for the rest of your life, everyone around you will remind you of your hight and I mean everyone. They don't have to necessarily do it in a malicious way, but even your close ones will treat you like a toddler who needs help with everything, or who's opinion is less important because small->child->dumb. i'll give you my perspective since i'm 5'4 and I had 2 girls live with me. longest was like 2.5 years . probably a good chance shes using you as a free pass for cheaper housing or she's actually down with the ride of being with you.
that's the issue though. you're not really putting much details about how you two met (besides college) and yet still havent met up. I'm guessing you two exchanged photos and if you're sending some weird angel photos to make yourself appear taller, then she should get a good perspective at your height at this point considering our height is real short. we cant throw out a few inches to cope like dudes who are 5'10 or whatever.
