What's the point of being a good person if no-one recognizes it? Not some wishy washy faggy spiritual answer, seriously what is the point of doing good things without external validation, assuming that deed disadvantages you?

Someone who chases after vice and doesn't control his temperament will more likely become a slave to his impulses and desires, and struggle navigating life, whether they're relationships or other trials. As for spiritual answers, at least you'll be content on your deathbed and free of guilt or fear of what's to come.

It's just human nature to be nice. Deep in the animal part of our brains, our brains reward us for doing nice things by making us feel nice. That's why way back in the stone age even before settled agricultural society, and back when it wouldn't have had much benefit in the narrow social darwinism sense, humans took care of their weak, sick, and unproductive brethren. It's just natural.
