Does Buddhism appeal to you?
>>84288835No im not brown
No, it is just another concept.
Quite frankly, none of the religions do because that'd take the fun out of discovering the afterlife. Also because it's rather demoralizing to know I'll just end up respawning after I die. The world sucks. I'd rather not go through it a second time.
no. science and tech appeal to me. next question.
No, these niggas got 1 million hells for each super specific sin you've committed. Niggas will be spending thousands of years just going from hell room to hell room getting punished for their sins after they die.
>>84288835I think they're right about seeking to liberate conscious beings from suffering, but I can't go along with reincarnation and some of the weirder tantric stuff.
>>84288835Of all the religions, I think it understands the human condition the best. But like all religions it's filled with superstition, promises of immortality that sooth the soul and appeal to the masses.
>>84288835I agree that existence is suffering and that desire causes suffering
No. The only relevant parts of it can be expressed in less than one page, but even that's just being pointlessly fundamentalistic with no anchoring in the real world. It has no justification for a religion or tradition around it, and it's completely uninteresting. Just a cope for asians to hang on to so they can pretend they're deep and relevant, and a crutch for western foids and faggots to latch on to so they can pretend they're deep and exotically spiritual and philosophical. Also the aesthetics of it are 95% disgusting shit that makes me misanthropic and feel like vomiting.
>>84288835yeah. i wouldnt call myself buddhist but i enjoy learning about it and i agree on a few things. i find it more appealing than any living abrahamic religion.
It just says if you're immoral you get bad karma. Excuse my ignorance, but does it proscribe any sort of moral laws or codes?
>>84288835I like itI found out the other day that there's no actual process where you "convert" to Buddhismif you believe in the Dharma, congrats you're Budhhist now
>>84288835If samsara actually existed, i wouldnt understand why do i need to exit it
>>84288835JUST ANOTHER SHITTY OFFSHOOT OF TAOISMTAOIST PHILOSOPHY, MEDICINE, AND SPIRITUAL PRACTICE IS FAR SUPERIOR TO BUDDHISM.
>>84289519Four Noble Truths and Noble Eightfold Path, senpai
>>84288835I had a big phase in college for Tibetan Buddhism. I've read a bunch of books on it and have a pretty good understanding of it, at least or someone that is not a monk or scholar and is more of a hobbyist. If you guys are curious I can try to answer questions.>>84289452You seem to have a shallow understanding of it if you believe it has no justification for it's traditions and can be expressed in a single page.
>>84289519Basically morality in Buddhism is complex, and it offers different codes and philosophies for different people, based on their ability to uphold those codes. For the average person, Buddhism gives basic rules like don't murder, don't lie, etc. For a monk or spiritual practitioner, the rules get more strict as more is expected of them. They must do what their guru tells them to do, obey their superior monks, and if he says do 1,000 prayers or something you have to do it.Now, the philosophy of karma is that every sentient being is part of the fabric of a universe of consciousness, and that what is experienced by consciousness is merely a reflection of it. If there is good within you, you perceive good. Negativity perceives negativity. One of the very advanced, and difficult, teachings is to always try to see the good in something bad that happens to you. To be humble, and grateful for the opportunity to expand your consciousness through learning about the reflection.
>>84288835I personally can't trust most westerners who "get into" Buddhism but all the syncretized sects from over the centuries are pretty neat. I also tried to find some long lost meme about picrel but I couldn't find it. And this was just funny to me desu
>>84288835Why would ending my consciousness appeal to me?
>>84289405Well tou are wrong since rhe cow eats until it's desire is satisfied, no suffering involved
>>84288835Nah, they are too nihilistic. It is just eastern gnosticism.
>>84288835I loke their idea of hell. It a temporary place you go if you really fuck up your karma and you get to be reincarnated once you have been punished sufficiently. The idea of eternal hell always seemed excessively harsh to me.
>>84292795>I personally can't trust most westerners who "get into" BuddhismTotally agree. They reject the deeper philosophical parts and the wiser teachers that actually make it worthwhile. They are into it because it's like "therapy" or something, which it totally is not.>>84292799Nirvana is not technically ending your consciousness, at least not the innermost aspect of it, just the outer parts of it that have accumulated over billions of years. But none of that was you to begin with.>>84293859Eternal hell is nonsense. It serves no purpose for either your own consciousness, which desires evolution, nor for the universe as a whole, which desires it's smaller units of sentient beings to evolve. It's likely not even as long or as bad as Buddhists say. Most likely a scare tactic anyway.
>>84288835Probably the best religion outta the mainstream ones across the world in the sense that it's followers aren't bashing or hurting people but I still don't believe in it
