i was very excited for Oblivion and then it wasn't very good.
i recently played Skyrim and it was fine, but way too focused on action. also you "don't have to worry" about the things that make dungeon adventuring interesting. torches, encumbrance, missing attacks? that's boring, apparently.

we're arguably in a better time than ever for a old-school D&D type game where you can just go wherever and the plot develops organically. yet they insist on scripted plotlines with voice acting i feel obliged to wait through.
