Is it bad that I am 23 and I have no idea what career to pursue?

No that's pretty common.

As an much olderfag looking back, what you should be most afraid of is:
- Ignorance (Don't stop learning)
- Idleness (Don't stop working) (This can be at anything)

Every day you don't make progress is a day you'll never get back.
Every day you don't learn something useful is a day you fall father behind.

So what SHOULD I do? Should I pursue something that I love doing just for the fun of it or pursue something that pays the bills? I have so many choices but so little time, it sucks.

you already know in your heart what you should do..

Hehhhhhh, I suppose I should dig deep.
Thanks by the way.

Ideally both, but that's tricky.

Wake up early and study your passion.
Then go to work and earn your keep.
Always give the best part of your day to the best part of yourself.

Remember that your work should be a path to your ultimate passion.
What skills do you need to acquire? Work someone that teaches basics
What do you need to know? Find a mentor and study online
Who do you need to know? Join a beginners network, meet recruiters/trainers

Focus on what is most important to you personally, then learn to derive an income from it.
Unless it's art of some gay shit, then work just hard enough to live and do art for art's sake.

You're on 4chan so hopefully you have some interests that might actually earn you a good living.

Yeah. Its art. I want to make cartoons and stuff for a living but with A.I and how the industry is I don't think it could happen. Not without connections in the industry at least.
I dunno. I might just study Electrical Engineering or become an Electrician since I find fixing/modifying wires and electronics interesting.

You will never know what you really want to do. You'll have an idea or an interest. Those interests will spur other ones. Your first inkling could be your major. You might never end up working in that field though, especially in the current job market. Feel like it's been a shit job market since around 2009-10-onwards with every few years having either some major event having a new crisis to keep you settling rather than chasing a dream (e.g. 08/09 recession, covid, more recessions, AI bubble and automation). Or you might eventually circle back to it in many years and realize that working in that field has made you hate it, as I have learned.

Find something useful that you are good at. Ensure it's something that can pay the bills and has some future in it. You cannot control the wind, but you can point the sails. Even your typical STEM jobs aren't really safe any longer. I learned far more jumping from job to job than I ever did than what I did in school. What I thought I wanted to do or what actually brings me any sense of fulfillment never really worked. I cannot give much advice, as no job as ever really left me fulfilled. The closest I came was doing simple heavy construction and stuff as at least I could see what I built or contributed to at the end. Most office work or service oriented STEM work doesn't really bring about that tangible feeling of fulfillment.

The more I work in the field, the more I grow to resent it. The only thing I have left is the financial aspect and whatever I feel I contributed at the end. Might be different if you make your own stuff, but you can do that as a hobby-turned-career later on.

Unless you can't live without art don't do this.

Now this shit sounds like a career and a high paying one at that.

Get all over electronics like your life depends on it.
Focus on apprenticeships and things where you can learn.
Get a basic electronics hobby that will help with your job.
Buy the essential electronics books and read just a little bit everyday.

Adopt a marathon, not a spring mentality.
Good luck bro.
