For me, it's not a "you will magically summon a girl interested in you by having a quirky unique personality" thing I've always interpreted it as a "don't get too carried away by your feelings, don't force yourself to do things you don't want, don't act fake, don't treat her a specific way just because you feel it's what your supposed to do". Literally just be yourself, act like a reasonable human around her. It won't make her attracted to you, but it helps to not decrease your chances with her.
