I thought that anime character was using some kind of interpretation of Chinese armour but some google reveals it's directly referencing a Japanese statue
Turns out Japan also made similar "terracotta warriors" as well. couldn't find any images of this armour replicated in real life though so no idea if it was actually similar to the Qin and Han dynasty armour of the Chinese, nor could I find anything that connects them.
