Hey, I'm kind of an oldfag who hasn't used social media since '09 or so. There's a woman I want to find out about. I think she made up her boyfriend.
But I hear you can't just snoop on people like you once could. Like that "click here to find out who's browsing your FB" bullshit is actually a thing now?
You can't safely scope someone's page out without them knowing it was you? Or is that not true?

I'm assuming she's a "normal" person with her whole life posted for all to see. So is there any way these days to see from afar? Or has everything truly changed?
My friend coulda been bullshitting me or just cautiously paranoid himself. Is this sort of thing considered "stalking"? Didn't used to be. Again, I'm out of the loop.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

None of that shit is true, I stalk girls professionally online. As long as you don't leave comments or like their posts they don't know. It's not like facebook or anything has a recents feed. Some old social websites used to do this like 20 years ago but not anymore.

Should I call the police now or will you turn yourself in

depends on the social media site/app. I know snapchat has it, but i don't think most others have it. If you want to, just set up an alt account and do it through that. I mean if you don't use alt accounts on SM today you're either brave or retarded, or both.

Thanks, I probably won't go so far as to get a social media account. I kind of wanted to get a friend to do it for me. He told me all that. He's paranoid but also maybe he just wanted an excuse not to do it for me. He said if he was looking someone up he'd just search them from engines and not from within an app or site.

Yeah, and maybe he thinks if Snapchat has it they all must have it. He's also older like me and doesn't use many of those things besides Facebook. He thinks Facebook will start showing you things about people based on you looking at them, and that it would probably then bring you up on the person's feed also. Sounds retarded but I think he's just overly cautious.
Thanks for the reply.

I haven't done anything yet. But I've come up with some fun fantasy scenarios. Like since I'm probably not going to get on social media to find out the answers, I was thinking about technology and how easy it'd be to just put one of those little tile tracking devices on her car. Then I could just watch from home everywhere she goes. Then after a pattern is established I just show up late at night and leave a tiny camera outside some spots and then go check the footage. Maybe even watch it live from home. I could totally see what she does and where she goes and if she's banging some guy or just made it up.

Also, social websites from 20 years ago are all I remember. Myspace and Facebook, and yeah, if you didn't engage with people there was no fucking way they'd know you were looking. The only thing that would foil you was when everything was like 'Friends Only' and you had to actually be their friend to see any of the juicy stuff. Certain people you really couldn't find out anything about them. But also it used to be that you were just friends with everyone and it didn't mean anything. You just collected as many as possible with no discrimination.

The main thing I'm worried about is that you can no longer get a totally bullshit account. Like don't they have to get your phone number and real email and you're held accountable now? I can't just make some fake burner account these days can I?
