In the beginning, memes were a coincidentally funny picture/video/song that was passed around because it was funny. They were actually genuine and had frequent creative edits to carry it along. Now they're just barely edited screencaps from a popular thing and some text to make it relatable to you. There's no effort or humor in it, its just chasing clout to get attention. It's all dead and soulless now.
