can i showcase my guitar skillz?
https://vocaroo.com/1XuEzjU7eb8w
got an opinion? =)
>>
siktir beni baba
>>
pretty rad, just have fun with it. that's what matters.
>>
that's pretty average playing but as long as you're enjoying yourself nothing else matters mate
>>
>>84399308
i mean yeah i have fun doing this. my technical skill isn't like super good/virtuoso tier but i guess i want to highlight, the creativity not the technical side too much. i'd like to get better though, but there's so much to learn, not just shredding, scales, and memorizing all that. but composition skills, then onto audio engineering. i intent to do everything myself, what will it bring me? fame/money/bitches, it likely wont give me jack shit but it feels interesting so i'll do it
>>
>>84399332
the playing is clean it's not messy, that's the best part. it just feels like you're trying to show off to a bunch of people who may not really know the scale of the thing at issue when you could just as easily post this to /mu/ for a more generally informed audience. that's also like the most generic metal riff ever
>>
>>84399355
it is a generic metal riff but the second part is what i'm mostly proud of as i was in a trance when it happened. felt spiritual
also...there's plenty of guitar enthusiasts on r9k, the /GG/ faggots in that general hate it when others post vocaroos, they're all crabs in a bucket over there, i'd rather not post there.
>>
Good stuff, takes me back to my guitar playing days.

Only real advice I have is write songs and have fun. I focused way too much on drilling leads and solos back when I played, while all my old friends who were technically "worse" than me focused on songwriting and actually made something of themselves.

If you ever wanna lay down drum tracks and whatnot, programs like EZDrummer are worth looking into if you haven't already.
>>
>>84399368
mate it kind of just seems like you're jerking yourself off for having basic guitar chops, and on top of that you want applause. sorry but that's just how i feel. drawcunts are even worse with this
>>
>>84399355
OP: don't worry so much about whether or not you sound "generic". You're not gonna be reinventing the wheel when it comes to guitar music unless you're diving into a bunch of processing and whatever. If you wanna "experiment", the kind of metal you're into probably isn't the best vehicle to accomplish that.

Comparison is the thief of joy. Write songs, have fun. Even if you're only playing covers, even if everything you do sounds like Yngwie or Dokken or whoever, join a band and have a good time.
>>
>>84399388
yeah i know the music is dated and so on and so forth. not gonna be innovating that much if i make music like this

Joining a band seems like a fun idea, i could see myself however being the lonely schizoid who just composes random stuff out of enthusiasm, i have little concern for popularity....
I''m trying to become a wagecuck and i'll pursue music as a side hustle

>>84399382
a little bit maybe cant disagree that im being an attentionwhoring faggit to an extent, but sometimes people like to show things off. Like some people wanna show off their expensive watches, jewelry etc.
>>
>>84399382
Y'know, for a lot of people this place is all they have. We should be building each other up, not tearing each other down.

>I was only being honest!

Nah, you're being a cunt. You're accusing him of showing off, and so what if he is? He's improving himself, and he has something to show for it. What have you got besides sand in your vagina?
>>
>>84399410
Ok but if this place is all some people have what makes you think they want to see some guy trying to show off how cool he is? You said it yourself, some people only have vaginas after all. Tall poppy hate exists for a reason. He could have posted this to /mu/ like every other person who does the sensible thing, but then it likely would not have seemed as impressive, would it?
>>84399409
I'm just jealous people laughed at my stuff in /prod/
>>
I'm getting through the stumbling through scales phase and its taking a while, any tips other than grind scales ands barre chords until Im gud?
>>
>>84399429
>Ok but if this place is all some people have what makes you think they want to see some guy trying to show off how cool he is
Because we should be happy to see real niggas winning, not bitchmade niggas whining like you, faggot.

If this place is a repository for all the accumulated resentments incurred by outcasts shunned by normies and the like, why should we shun our fellow robots when they try to accomplish something constructive and improve themselves?
>>
>>84399444
Grind improvisation instead of grinding scales.

Once you're confident you can play a scale you like the sound of back and forth okay, look up jam tracks in that scale on youtube to jam along with. Pick notes from the scale in random order, play them along with the track in time, do this til you're gud.
>>
>>84399444
mix disciplined learning, like scale runs, with creative exercises or composition skillz.........I like to mostly just jam for fun. i obviously know the scales but i havent mastered them i never took the time to be a rigid technical virtuoso, much more of a play by ear-type....but if i would like to improve i'd have to get a bit of a routine in which i meticulously study the scales and try some exercises, so that i have complete knowledge of it when i then choose to noodle

>>84399462
creative exercise or composition skillz, what meant by that is just play random shit and see if you can come up with something cool/nice/beautiful

mix chaos with order though. you dont wanna make a schizo album
>>
>>84399452
*shrug*
I guess like modesty. Furthermore no one ever gives a shit when I post stuff so it's not fair.
>>
>>84399461
>>84399462
Rad, no reference point for how to do that but I can try
>>
>>84399522
I'll try explain improvisation using the A pentatonic scale.

If you learn the A pentatonic scale okay, you'll be able to look up "A pentatonic scale jam track guitar" on youtube. Dick around a bit, and viola - you're playing pretty much every blues and hard rock song ever written.

If all that lead guitar stuff and scales begin to bore you, just learn power chords. It's one shape, not that big a deal. Power chords and a few open chords are more than enough to write and learn a fuckton of songs, most people get by on that and not much else.
>>
>>84399478
i have a feeling that i get attention because of the optics, an interesting though somewhat homosexual pic, a somewhat polite, not in your face message in the post....make a first good impression can prove to be a good way to reach people.
>>
>>84399701
Yeah probably... I guess I need to work harder at my craft
>>
>>84399709
i'm curious about what music youve done. im sure it's more....ambitious than what im able to conjure up, i have a suspicion that youve put a lot of work into it. feel free to post, if you're so inclined. you might not wanna feed me more replies tho, understandable
>>
>>84399807
https://vocaroo.com/1dgSJIFeMFhh
what do you think about this? i made it in guitar pro. i actually posted it to /prod/ like i said earlier in the thread. i can show you some more stuff too. if you download guitar pro i would even be down to collab. i can also record some bass playing but i'm not that great and it would just sound like wankery more or less.
>>
>>84399863
alright, what can i say, it's going according to rhytm and i can hear a good use of drums. you actually playing that bass or is it a virtual one? also, do you have any plans to incorporate other instruments and melodies, maybe even lyrics? you could look for people who would be open to collab with you if you don't have the means to make the other instrumental parts yourself...I'd be down to it, though my guitar is currently broken.... :/
>>
>>84399906
i'm not super serious about music really. and no, that's just pure software. i can record myself playing if you want tohear what that sounds like, but it's nothing special. anyway i hope you don't take what i said too personally and try to focus instead on the overall point i was trying to get across, even if you agree with the other anon i was arguing with ideologically.
>>
>>84399979
it's alright. i do see a wonderful opportunity here though, if i played guitar and you recorded drum + bass tracks. we could together make like instrumental rock stuff. Like buckethead.
think of bucketheads sloppy songs...He has plenty of slop.
i can't really shred that well, i can but it's off tempo and off scale and mostly sounds like shit....

But sure post your playing.

example of what i meant as buckethead slop
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaElbveTWmk
it's good, not necessarily slop, but it's just one of thousands of tracks he has made....
and it contains no shredding or highly advanced guitar skills, though the beginning riff is a bit speedy. I could see myself being able to make stuff like this eventually.
>>
>>84399204
Finally a guitar nigger on r9k who's tone doesn't sound like dog shit.
>>
>>84400034
that's the difference between you and i anon. you have a vision for what you want out of your playing and where it could take you and you pursue that vision. i'm not really that passionate so i will never be a better musician than you. i mostly just want to stick to what i can do right now (tabbing stuff on gp) instead of thinking of a bigger picture project that takes time and coordination.

https://vocaroo.com/1gvTqgZPZjW4
>>
>>84400114
yeah it may seem that i am the visionary and i am super passionate, truth be told, that tends to go up and down, like a sine wave. sometimes i dont care at all about music, and care more about other stuff. Before i was a guitarist i was actually an amateur game dev, i created beginning projects for small 2D games, eventually i attempted to make a 3D game. my background is in programming and mathematics i kid you not. always been a loner who pursued interests rather than socializing....So i've had a lot of freetime and i've made sure to use it for activities i enjoy.
my visions come and go sporadically. It would've aided me if i was to collaborate with people, i'd feel a sense of responsibility and that would help me achieve something...

very seldomly does 1 person do it all themselves, often times people require help. Im sure even composers of the past centuries even got help from others, they mustve communicated with other musicians, composers, etc....also i thought buckethead made everything in his music himself, turns out he had people who helped him. No im not saying im buckethead or anywhere near that, but my point is just that collaboration, teamwork, is highly beneficial. for any creative endevaour.
>>
>>84400158
ok don't take this the wrong way but why is Buckethead so popular lately? i swear he's being talked about more lately than the last 20 years i knew who he was
>>
>>84400181
good question. i dont know...he's highly influential maybe and has left a mark in some peoples minds....Yeah i see posts on him all the time whenever i visit /mu/. and i've only recently begun to think about him....again, though i discovered his music over a decade ago
>>
>>84400192
anon you're based just focus on the music and you'll get to where you need to be
