His unit retreated under heavy fire, leaving wounded behind.
Doss stayed alone on top of the ridge.
Over hours, he located wounded soldiers, treated them, and lowered them down a cliff using a rope system.

He saved ~75 men by himself.
He worked continuously under sniper fire, artillery, and darkness.
Witnesses said he kept praying: "Just one more."

Most people assume this must be exaggerated, but multiple testimonies confirmed it.
