I get a lot of anxiety talking to people, even when it's online. I wanted some help editing a wikipedia page and asked for help. I talked with a contributor, and he questioned my reasons for editing a page about nature reserves and national parks, as if I were some vandal.The protected areas page for my country hasn't been updated since 2009. I like visiting national parks because they are some of the few places where I feel okay. I visited the Wikipedia page about protected areas in my country, and the last time it was updated was in 2009. I couldn't find all the information about the new reserves added since then, the updated maps, exact area, etc because my incompetent government doesn't publish them. As a citizen, I have a constitutional right to request information, and the ministry is required to provide any materials they have (except classified material) on time. I asked whether there's a way to use the information I get to update the article. He told me to get official sources. Then he told me something along the lines of I should use available information and not something that fits what I want. It's literally about national parks, and I want the latest figures, not to selectively use it. I asked him if I could ask a registered environmental organization to request the documents from the government, and publish them on their website, so I could use them. He said that I shouldn't use synthetic data. Then he tells me I should use recent sources if I really want to edit for altruistic reasons.Why the fuck would I edit a page about national parks for a partisan reason? This is not about politics or other divisive issues. It's literally a page that doesn't have the new national parks and forest reserves and land area allocated to each (since 2009).
