It is shocking how little land and time is required to produce a complete diet that satisfies macro and micro nutrient needs of a family of six. A quarter acre of grain covers the bases, you could probably get two crops a year from it. Herbs and spices can grow on their own pretty much wherever. Squashes, beans, tomatoes, root vegetables, brassicas are heavy producers and store well. Apples ripen at different times and keep so long you can eat fresh year round with proper cellaring. Other fruit trees, vines, brambles, shrubs, bushes, nuts. Trees can be used as structural members of a house as well as burned for fuel. Animals are even easier, refrigerators on legs made out of meat. Chickens eat bugs, sheep eat grass, pigs eat everything. It feels gay as hell busting ass working overtime for a pittance when such an attractive alternative exists but is made super illegal.When the pilgrims came to America the fence around the forts were as much or more to keep the settlers in that keeping the injuns out.
