I know men who have multiple kids and play vidya. In fact, I think gaming is a way to avoid paying proper attention to kids and leaving everything to the wife.

It was the only comfort I had growing up, and I continued to play as an adult. Eventually I wasn't even having fun playing, I just used it as a way to dissociate and fastforward my evenings. I could have become a master at drawing, which I've always loved and been pretty good at, had I spent the last ten years practicing instead of gaming. Or I could have gotten lean and ripped if I had spent that time working out. I could have done so much with that time.I look back on my gaming habit with nothing but disgust. I never made a single lasting friendship through gaming, or any good memories. It was just an addiction and a waste of so much time and so much money. 30 years of my life, gone. But no more.

Is it always? No, but it can be for some people. Playing Quake high on speed is unironically better than having sex with a girl without a condom and I've done both.
