do suicide hotlines actually help?
>>
>>84441665
I live in the UK. I called a suicide hotline when I was 18. A woman on the phone told me to hang in there, and that she would call me again the following week on Friday, and to ask me to stick around till then. Friday came, she didn't call. I should have known, it was a woman. I ended up having a mental breakdown (I probably would have had it anyway, but this lack of a phone call didn't help), and had to go to the psych ward for a while, where they did help me. But fuck, idk, I feel like some of the women who work at these places are secretly into it. Not all, ofc, but this one probably was.

I don't know what kind of a man will ever call. Men make final decisions. Having thoughts is common, everybody does. But going through with it is a completely different thing.

>hang in there
pfffffthehehehehe what a cunt

heard multiple accounts of them calling the cops on you and you'd get committed, or, ironically they might shoot you if you have a gun (apparently this happened).
depends on the country I guess.

I wasn't suicidal, I just deeply needed someone to talk to. I felt awful, and the people in my house were all acting aggressive towards me. I needed to hear some sympathetic words and to feel like someone cared about me.
But yeah there is a difference between feeling suicidal and actually being suicidal. Actual suicidal people don't make a big fuss of it, don't do things for attention, they just get it over with.
>>
99% of the time? No. Two people around here got called them just to talk, and they sent the cops. They didn't committed though since they voluntarily said they'd go to treatment so they only got held for 72 hours without it being on their record instead of involuntarily and staying there whenever the hospital decides you are better (which is weeks.)

Instead, find a crisis hotline. Never say you are suicidal. Say you are just having a hard time and just need someone to talk to for a bit to get over a hump.

Why would Darj call the suicide hotline? Was her tea cold?

it's probably just chatgpt now

Kek. This reminds me of the story of an anon who call the suicide hotline and no one even answered the phone so he was so pissed he found a reason to live. That reason was to make the lives of the people who push that stupid hotline hell and to publicly embarrass and embarrass them on social media for their fake ass care campaign

lmfao do you even have to ask?

Nah. Called them just to get the cops sent to my house. Especially with the lack of US funding for mental health assistance, their solution is to send police which just intensifies emotion, stress, etc. That's my opinion, at least...
>>

the point of the suicide hotline isnt to help, its just to calm you down, theres nothing they can do to help you and you know that
>>
>>84441904
>told me to hang in there
>mishears it as hang on there
>fucking dies
>>
They should be able to shoot some tranqulizers or sleeping gas through the phone
>>
>>84441665
the only thing they do is call the cops because a worker is at risk of escaping his 9 to 5
>>
>>84441665
Im pretty sure they just 5150 you
>>
>>84441665
Yes they are not perfect but yes they help one hundred percent
>>
No, they just tell you not to do it and then send someone to your house and 5150 you
>>
There was a decent one here that would allot you like an hour of time from a 15-30 minute wait. After covid it turned into 10 minutes of time after a 2 hour wait lol. Most experiences were positive but I wouldn't be surprised if the change after 2020 was more or less universal
