Japanese college students are even lazier than western ones. No one takes college in Japan seriously its just a place for you to fuck around and bullshit until your third year when you start applying for jobs. And once you get the job you can basically just stop going to class completely because it no longer matters.

Good luck with the plan, OP. I was thinking about enrolling in Japanese Studies after finishing my current degree and we have good opportunities of studying in Japan via scholarships and partnerships between local x japanese universities. Still, I'm insecure because they don't like foreigners and I'm too socially awkward for a society who demands extremely high social function (to begin with tatemae and honne, that's important because I can just do honne, tatemae is kind of alien to me).
What do you plan studying? Are there any colleges that call your attention? And why Yokohama?

Honestly that's hard to believe but extremely good if true. But is that true even if you go for institutions like Keio or Toudai?

Generally Japanese students bust their ass to get into a good high school, that's the part they stress over. I have heard there are some colleges with strong reputations and maybe that makes some difference, but for 99% of Japanese students college is just total bullshit until the third year when they have to grind their ass off doing internships and interviews to land a job offer.

Its expensive, but manageable, since it would be a partner school of the school Im already going to. Also, it would be a fully English speaking campus with special support for international students, so I would have help.
>>84443290
Yeah, I was sort of worried about the not liking foreigners part too, but the school Im thinking of is an international college so I feel like there it should be okay. Maybe you could also look into those. Idk about doing Japanese Studies, because I cant really imagine many job prospects, so I would probably try to take classes that align with your major back at home, but I think you could take like an elective Japanese Studies class for a semester. Ive seen some.
Dont worry about social anxiety. If you go there to study, focus on school and the environment, not people. If you live in community housing, you will probably make connections naturally.
>why Yokohama ?
Corny ahh reason, but one of my favorite authors killed himself there, so I would just like to see it once.
