"I love her for her" but were talking about someone being an awful person. loving someone because theyre awful reflects poorly on your self. loving someone DESPITE them being awful is something else entirely.

if they were to become a better person, they wouldnt be the same. it wouldnt be the person you "loved for being themselves". but you wouldnt leave them suddenly, would you?

its just all cope really. if you love someone you should want them to be their best possible version of themselves. that means changing. that means improving. being there to help them reach it. everything else is mental gymnastics. its just that most people are terrified of having to grow or have any kind of responsibility.
