In my country there's the phrase "shoot, dig, shut up". But if I were in such a situation I'd probably bag them up, take them to a lake (we have very many), cut the bag a little (so I don't accidentally preserve them) and dump them in.

Have an alibi before anything else, and to hide the body, avoid having anything with DNA on it. If there was blood, get rid of the stained clothing. If it was by hanging, clean the area of the body where your hands were. You can freeze the body and bury it or throw it into a lake or river, but make sure it's one where there's no fishing activity. Make a small slash in the bag, leave no evidence, use gloves to handle everything, and burn the gloves afterward.
