They are Christians if they ask that. Atheists don't understand nuance and think Christianity is a monolith.When people ask what church you go to it's easiest to just answer with denomination because the established assumption is they think you are a Christian. Unless it's a schizo flavor, then it's best to simply shut them down from further questioning. Most Christians I've encountered in real life are only slightly better than atheist tier when it comes to literacy. If it's a small town environment it would probably be dangerous to answer honestly. Always remember the only reason people talk to each other in real life is to hurt them through intel gathering. If they push for an answer say whatever is the dominant denomination in the area but you haven't found a local congregation you want to join yet. These types of questions are never good hearted or simple curiosity, so be on high alert. Even stuff as benign as what's your favorite food is a trap, intel gathering to later hurt you. If someone actually wants to be friends they'd be willing and able to talk about things without trying to build a dossier. Favorite anything is a keyword I use because it's useless in friendship but helpful in narrowing down a profile. If they just wanted to play games or something they'd talk about that or enter with a safe remark about how weathery the ambient outside conditions are.
