the thing i do like about the current internet compared to the old internet, is that you can pirate pretty much anything and it's not a virus or some sort of troll.i hated that shit, i don't like that people did that and i'm glad the internet now isn't like that.
>somehow never actually pirated or torrented anything at any pointfeelsgoodman
>>84483354It is nice being able to just stream anime and movies for free now instead of having to torrent, and free ad blockers/antivirus are good enough now that as long as you aren't doing something retarded then it's all way safer than downloading unvetted files directly to your pc. I was also always nervous about seeding, because then you become a distributor and can be gone after, but as a mere consumer they don't really give a shit
I have a 8k dollars pc and I can't afford to pirate things. One virus and it's over, plus I keep so much financial stuff on it, I can't risk it.
>>84483432I pirated koikatsu party because I was too embarrassed to buy it and I didn't know you could buy it privately at the time It wasn't good, I deleted itGames and anime literally suck so much they're not worth pirating I remember being a teen and wanting to like anime, I wish I could go back to that time, it felt like the bad anime and games I was busying myself with were just foam on the shore and out at sea there was a limitless amount of art to be enjoyed It's like the total opposite
>>84483354You could already do that in like 2006 if you knew about torrenting.
>>84483482honestly i was just watching generation kill and true blood rips on megavideo at 12. never got to have an anime phase. what was it like?
>>84483494You looked at the excitement and revelry that anime fans around you enjoyed and you thought anime is definitely good, then you watch a few dozen full series and you can count on your fingers which ones you liked, but none of it is good enough to where you want to buy merchandise for it or dress up as the characters or discuss it with other people etc
>>84483482I think that's just a you problem. I'm 35, been watching anime all my life. I still enjoy anime as much as I did when I was a kid. I might even enjoy it more now because I'm less emotionally numb than I was when I was young. I connect more with the characters and engage more with the plot. Yes, the animation isn't nearly as good these day and they overuse some tropes, but the 90's and 2000s were also full of rehashes and copycat series. For every good anime back then there were a dozen shit ones, just like today.
>>84483471I some how have bigger tits and thighs and im a dude
>>84483539Don't get me wrong I like a lot of anime and games, I even revisit them sometimes I guess I just expected impossible things the medium just obviously can't deliver and I didn't know how to articulate it

>>84483584that makes sense, people in the west did (do) tend to overblow and mysticize anime as this toodeep4u super cool thing thanks to pseud-core anime like NGE and Cowboy Bebop. But it's always just been escapist fantasy for nerds. There's a lot of funny stuff, a lotta horny stuff, a lotta sad stuff, and a lotta heartwarming stuff, but it's just cartoons.>>84483598I still get nervous running .exes to this day, even if it's straight from microsoft or on an official website
>>84483530funny given where we are>>84483646>planetes>nge>nhk>5cmpsopinions?
>>84483684>planetesWatched the first episode a long long time ago but dropped it I think. I probably thought it was boring.>ngeWatched the original series plus the movies. Thought it was pretentious crap. Generally didn't enjoy it.>nhkNever watched it but I've been meaning to get around to it. I'm not that interested in anime about super pathetic guys tho.>5cmpsNever heard of it til now.How did you like those?
>>84483739never watched any. those were what moot kept shilling on early /a/ and before 4chan on irc. ASUKA IS LOVE ASUKA IS LYFE
>>84483769Moot was a faggot.
>>84483806anonymous his tripcode was ## faggot, why do you think this is a revelatory statement
>>84483646>mysticize anime as this toodeep4u super cool thing thanks to pseud-core anime like NGE and Cowboy Bebop.Funnily enough my first 2 anime I watched through were Elfenlied and Mirai Nikki, and I liked them enough to read the manga scans, I made my youtube pfp LucyLol, now that I look back on it, this art style trend in general is so damn nostalgic. Thanks for helping me remember some of my teenage cringe, I'm going to have a listen to the anime openings I didn't watch Cowboy Bepob until much later, and that was after I watched Samurai Champloo, because Anime Man made an old video about a music artist named Nujabes. I've hung around the periphery of anime culture for so long that I've seen a band make music for a phone game, follow them as my favorite band for a decade, and then they were making the opening theme for one of the biggest animes a few years ago. All this time, I've never met anyone to talk to about it, despite every other odd person around me seemingly an anime fan. I've just been pushed away my whole life. I guess cultural stuff makes a connection with people if they have social proof to reinforce it.
