What's the most eccentric thing you have in your house?
>>

https://desuarchive.org/r9k/thread/84483475

i clicked on it the first time to answer like oh thank god an interesting topic just to get 404d despite it having not even been a minute yet

Because it's not unusual to be loved by anyone
It's not unusual to have fun with anyone
But when I see you hanging about with anyone
It's not unusual to see me cry
I wanna die

In 2019 I was in China right before the pandemic and I bought a Chinese fiddle for $150 USD at a really upscale music shop in Beijing near Wudaokou and it was a bitch to take back but it's in my room right now and a few years ago I tried to tune it and I broke the string

I took it to the music department at my university, to the professor that was doing a course on world music, and I asked if he could help me with an erhu and he started defining it in an email to me and it was like, no, I have one can you help me re-string this thing and he was all durrrr sorry my expertise is blah blah this that

So it's just sitting around

I also bought a Chinese flute about the size of a recorder but I gave it away

oh, and forgot my old ptolemaic geocentric solar system watch from the unemployed philosophers guild that i wore every day in high school though no one noticed. had the color theory one too but only wore it a few times and bought the ptolemaic multiple times over the years. had a necklace of a pink flaming sacred heart made in poland shipped here as well as multiple beaded necklaces made to look like bloody slit throats, and wore bezeled poison rings in school with golden sun, moon, and stars pendants. think i had some earrings made to look like silver swords as well and blue and gold celestial ribbon chokers. many bloody and broken hearts as well or flaming sun imagery. used to walk around wearing arms and ankles full of bangles, wear golden lockets and charm bracelets, and only use rajasthani lac or fountain pens. still wear all my tulle petticoats and red leather mary jane pumps, but the vintage style floral cocktail and occasion dresses need to be taken in to be worn again. i know i have far weirder shit but would need to go dig for it.

that is so goofy thats an architectural piece, if you were an architect building the house would put that there? that should go somewhere where it clearly looks like a knick knack

Whatever this is.

I acquired this a few years ago during a week where I was moving apartments and apparently forgot to lock my back door in my old apartment. Walked in to a guy apparently squatting there for a few days. I think we were both a bit freaked out when we met, but he just said 'sorry' and left, but left this figure. No idea who it's supposed to be or anything, but it looks neat.

they still sell the ptolemaic one but the art one was discontinued, and it has gone up in price by about $15. their stuff in general is less interesting now. cutesy brands like this mostly either went under or adapted to normie-r tastes and hollowed out, but have been replaced by independent vendors anyway.

https://philosophersguild.com/products/ptolemaic-watch

before out of print was cucked with normie millennial mom instagram shit their vintage reprint tshirt collections were fun too. i desperately wanted this lolita one at 15 to wear with red heart shaped sunglasses but my parents made me put it back at the bookstore. :( what could possibly be wrong with their khhv big breasted teenage daughter walking around in a thin white tshirt with LOLITA on it in bright red font, heart shaped sunglasses, and pigtails/ponytail with red hair ribbons while sucking on cherry popsicles, doused in black phoenix alchemy labs bubblegum/orange/cherry lollipop scented jailbait perfume and the benetint lip and cheek stain originally made for staining the nipples of strippers to be more pink under stage lights? what are you, some kind of moralfag?

I have an incredibly comfy La-Z-Boy gifted to me by my grandparents in the middle of my room. Sometimes when I get high I like to just sit in it for hours on end. Other than that nothing, my mattress is in the corner of my room and I have a shitty desk.

seems like avant-garde design was the intention. reminds me of the house renovations in beetlejuice.

kek, typical professor. maybe a repair shop specifically for string instruments might be able to help? or perhaps not given the delicacy, it was difficult enough to find someone who could fix the bridge on my cello years ago, cant imagine with something any more obscure than that. no wangmin online with info on douyin?
>>84484340
interesting he would leave that. oddly androgynous and like a western orientalist interpretation of an eastern art form from the 60s-90s. seen similar items in antique and consignment stores. wonder what he was doing with it and why he left it behind.
>>84484493
yeah, have you noticed anything unusual since then?

the best I can think of right now is a flute I made from lamb femur
it doesn't sound great, but it's kinda cool
I can't put it anywhere visible to my dog or he will constantly whine because he wants to chew it up

I worked in butchery for a while and I also played the flute as a kid in school, I think the idea just naturally bubbles up into my conscious brain one day.
Here's an old picture of it
>>
>>84484657
that is really neat. you said it doesnt sound great but that you played the flute as a kid, so is there anything you could do that would make it sound a bit better? not familiar with the intricacies of flautistry
