A huge potion of them are overweight, and many put very little effort into their dress and grooming. Most aren't intellectual, most don't have a good sense of humour and aren't funny. Most are boring and uninteresting. So all they have is their looks. But for men, they have more to offer outside of looks. So even if a guy is average looking or a little bit ugly, he is more likely to have a good sense of humour. He is more likely to be well read on interesting topics like history, politics, philosophy etc. He is also likely to have useful skills like being able to fix things. This is why men historically have not needed to focus their time on obsessing over their own appearance. Past generations of women would be attracted to a man for attributes beyond physical looks. But women nowadays literally only care about looks, height and money. This is true even of ugly women who could never attract such an elite level of man. We are living in a topsy turvy world.
