I've never understood the term doomscrolling. Aren't your social media feeds based on who you follow? If there's doom then just remove it or something.

My twitter is just japanese artists and close friends and the few times I scroll is always a good time. Maybe I'm just out of touch.

People keep scrolling till they see shit that depresses them or angers them or makes them feel inferior or like they dont do enough etc. It's just people not having communities and fulfilling hobbies anymore, no energy when off work so they do this (tv sucks)

you misunderstand how most people use these platforms. most people dont purposefully curate their feeds with things they like. they see one funny cat video, then fall into a 30 min adhd binge where they just endless scroll the same initial feed. then the algorithm learns that this particular moron will just watch whatever, after which it dripfeeds him mindless bullshit forever

You aren't. These people are just retards who like 90% of the things they see if they even remotely have any interest in it, or watch videos that make them unhappy to their completion. They somehow cannot fathom the existence of an algorithm designed to keep their attention based on what they've interacted with before.

Though the term can be used for just any social media scrolling for hours instead of doing something productive.

not anymore
it hasn't been that way for a long, long time. it's all based on algorithms that push the content that'll hold your attention for the longest amount of time

>twitter
this doesn't really apply to twitter lol. it's about endless-scroll video apps (like instagram and tiktok)

I use instagram regularly and it is extremely easy to curate your feed to be whatever you want it to be.
