I cannot reasonably expect to exchange more than a few sentences with someone within the next week, or even the next month. How fucked up does society have to be to even make such isolation to be possible? I think living like this would be genuinely difficult to imagine for people from any other point in human history.I just want to talk to people, and it doesn't matter what about. I have plenty of diverse interests I could carry a conversation about for hours. It doesn't have to be about one of my interests though, I'll happily engage with any topic that comes up, or anything they like. Whatever it takes to just keep them interested and not trying to bail at the first possible moment. I'm just so desperate to have that kind of basic connection with someone else.

>>84584077I can't make sense of this post at all. How did a hypersocial normie end up on r9k? Did you hear about this place on tiktok or are you a bot or something?
>>84584077hii how are you
>>84584080I have one, but despite my best efforts all interactions are limited to one or two back-and-forth exchanges at most.>>84584167I wouldn't call myself hyper social. I'm pretty sure I would still want to spend most of my time alone, but going weeks on end without any voluntary conversation is rough. Total isolation is always an option and infinitely plentiful, but I can't have even a taste of social interaction when I want it.

>>84584210I see what you mean now. Yeah, you're competing against the smartphone at all times these days. The little pocket square outperforms basically everyone. Think about it:However funny you are, someone on the internet is funnier. No matter how interesting you are, someone on the internet is more interesting.Whatever cool story you have, there's a cooler one on the internet, and it comes with maps, pictures of the scene, interviews with primary witnesses, etc.Right now someone is splitting the atom or "ticking the dragon". And there's some country hick filling his grandmas sedan with explosives and blowing it up.And then on the other hand, you have the new concept of "time poverty". Everyone's time poor between working and keeping abreast at work stuff to not be the one who gets replaced and staying fit and raising the kids and chores and errands and on and on. Gone are the old days of having nothing to do and spare cash to burn, everyone's overworked and priced out of having carefree, irrational fun.
I've noticed two ways around this. First you do what normies do and talk at work or go out to eat and talk about your last vacation and your next vacation. The other is to basically jester. Go somewhere with people doing (hobby) and be amazing at it and do a stunt and people will start conversing with you about that and then branch out into other things.Which is not a new concept, they call it "the ice breaker" but the required energy of activation has skyrocketed these days. It used to be you could just crack a joke but that was back when "Can haz cheezeburger" was funny; now it's mundane.
>>84584502I've thought the same before. I don't think its the main problem here, but it certainly is a contributing factor. I moreso blame the fact that there are just less opportunities to interact with others these days. There just aren't as many social spaces as there used to be, and even where there is, nobody uses them.>>84584547Talking at work has largely been a bust. During the day, everyone is busy and doesn't want to talk. During lunch they want the time to themselves. After work, they just want to GTFO.Going out to eat with them requires you to already be on good social terms with them. The jestermaxxing is close to what I've been trying, but it takes a long time and luck to be good at something, and further luck still for anyone to give a shit about it.

>>84584912Oh yes, now I see what you're referring to. Yeah, with normies; being their friend is a full time job. You know how there are jobs that are full-time only? So if you're only available to work part-time hours, then you're not allowed to work there at all? That's how normies are with their friendships. So if you cold approach them, it's like you're trying to slide into a job you haven't been hired for and it's a little awkward right off the bat. You're going to have to go to the elderly center or the bingo hall to get your fix. Or museums, parks, caves with guided tours. Alternatively you can get into sportsball and visit sports bars during big games. I've been told a lot of people got into sports just for that.
>>84585455>Yeah, with normies; being their friend is a full tiI like how you made this up and he is probably too retarded to know.
>>84585536Baseless accusation.
>>84585536If you don't engage with normies at regular intervals, they get bothered and grow cold to you. I know because I'm like him and would be happy to see people rarely but that puts normies off so it doesn't work out. They want you to pick up on the ring, they want a reply right away, they want you to treat interaction with a level of importance that only normies can justify and get addicted to and when you fail their standards too many times, they grow cold to you and move on.You're a bullshitter for saying I made all that up when it's exactly what's happening in the world.
I play warhammer 40k to meet other weirdos like me. It's easy to have conversations at tournements with other nerds about warhammer. Then we go drink at a pub afterwards and get drunk and have real conversation about life. The hobby is full of other autists and channers so it works great. All it costs is hundreds of hours (and dollars) to paint all your minatures while listening to the audiobooks. It's prettys chill. I talked to a weird tech guy about his issues with his wife today. Was chill.
>>84585747*pick up on the first ring
>>84585750Would probably work with other social quasi-niche hobbies too I guess. The online warhammer community is embarrassing but most of the people I've met IRL who actually play the tabletop game are cool.
