I met a really beautiful girl at a cafe by chance. I was just chilling reading doing college assignments. I told her I didn't have a car and that I never went on vacation. Understandably that turned her off so she left.

I don't have the bare minimum cuz I grew in this shitty city without my parents teaching me anything. I had to learn everything myself. I don't have a car cuz I can't drive. Even if I could, I still need to save up for one AND also buy one online without knowing anything about cars. I also can't afford my own rent because everything is expensive. You need to make 3x minimum wage to live in a 1.5k apartment. Why is this the norm? Who decided that things have to be this way??? Everyone is basically homeless in this city but they don't realize it because their family shields them from it. Yet somehow I'm the loser for not having one and doing everything on my own. I don't have any hobbies because you need money and time to have them so I guess I'm just not interesting??? I hate how hypocritical this city is. I hate how fake social media is. Instead of rebelling against it, everyone feeds into it. It's all so stupid

OP, the rat race is rigged. Fuck the rat race. Here's how you escape it: Join Air Force, go to tons of medical and psych appointments, get medically discharged for your severe mental issues and physical ailments, file VA disability, enjoy a free $4k each month for life, tax free, no income cap.

I say "Air Force" because the drill instructors literally aren't allowed to touch you without your permission during basic training. You will pass basic training as long as you don't give up. It is the easiest and safest basic training. Do NOT pick any other branch, those are more difficult with much worse quality of life.

Anyway, I did all this, but I'm age 35 living in hell with no potential for happiness, my life is severe chronic pain and intense depression, I will never have kids or a family, I exist maybe for a few more years of suffering at most. But I share this knowledge because it is one of the very few proven ways to escape the rat race for good.

i already tried the air force. my retarded recruiter couldnt wait for me to heal from my illness before sending me to MEPS so i failed. i needed documents but medi-cal retardism had me going to a city an hour away and i needed expensive ubers to get there every time. and would have to wait months for an appointment. and they still kept asking for MORE documents. i think my recruiter was just incompetent.

anyways, decent jobs in the air force will have my waiting a year before i get shipped. i want a career so i can actually survive for the rest of my life. im not worried about basic training, ive survived homelessness and i am athletic

You seem to have the determination necessary to invest small amounts and keep researching what assets have potential, in order to turn it into substantially more over time. From acorns might oaks grow and all that.

i dont see the point in investing in the stock market. at most I could probably only put in like a few hundred dollars each month. And then get back like a 3% increase every year for "safe" investments. (ie basically nothing). the stock market is for rich people to get even richer

Well, I'll pass on a lead I got that I'll be researching carefully. Perhaps you'll see potential with this one, I was only just told about it: DVN. Although yeah I was thinking more about putting in the hours of research to choose wisely for something more like a double rather than ultra-safe 3%. You might be too busy for that at the moment, but even $1 doubled over and over becomes over a million after being doubled 20 times. Never mind that this long-term model assumes you never pick something that does more than a double.
