I recently got my cat some new litterboxes but he's clearly scared of them and today he peed on the bed. I told my foid about it and she said she "didn't like my cat." I don't want a foid who doesn't like my cat...

picrel, it's my cat

cute little guy!
>scared of them
why? do they make strange noises?
> he peed on the bed
I've heard thing like infections or other sicknesses can make them do that
maybe you should bring it to the vet?
>said she "didn't like my cat."
ew
return her to whatever foid shelter you got her from

Nice cat!
>>84588230
>cute little guy
I agree!
>why?
It's an enclosed space. My last couple of litterboxes were open. In addition to just being gross to look at and smell, he also would get litter all over the place when he buried his poop, because he kicked it over the walls of the box. But I think he feels trapped in the ones I have now. I tried teaching him to use them, but when I put him in the litterbox he resists really strongly, and then he gets out without using it. I think maybe he will learn to use the new ones, but I haven't had enough time to teach him.
>maybe you should bring it to the vet?
I actually brought him to the vet recently because he had parasites. I had been putting it off for financial reasons; I tricked myself into thinking he was fine because he didn't show any symptoms. He got treated for worms and fleas, but the vet told me he also has an infection in his mouth, and the treatment is too expensive, so I'm looking to see if other vets can help me now.
>return her to the foid shelter
I really love her a lot, but that shocked me... English isn't her first language, so maybe I should give her the benefit of the doubt.

cool cat

independent studies make it clear
he is cute!
>It's an enclosed space
hmm I see
maybe with enough time he'll get used to it, patience and persistence usually works
but if not maybe there are ones with a transparent roof or maybe ones with no roof but very high walls
>treatment is too expensive
ow sorry to hear about that
>maybe I should give her the benefit of the doubt.
idk...
is she a cat person? maybe she's just bit frustrated which ig is understandable

how did your cat get in the ceiling??
I think he'll eventually learn to use the new litterboxes. I think he just isn't used to them yet.
>is she a cat person?
She's allergic. But she always expresses affection when she sees a stray on the street.
>>84588351
I really like this foid, but this makes me wonder...

it's one of lifes greatest mysteries
>think he just isn't used to them yet.
we'll see, well best of luck to the little guy
>She's allergic
that sucks
but I'm not sure how that works, if she takes meds she'll be okay right?

She would probably be okay if she took meds, but I don't know for sure. I don't think it's super fair to make her do that. We don't live together now, and we probably won't for a while.

I've got 10 cats and if a femoid said this, she can take a hike.
>>
>>84588644
a whole 10 cats !
that's a lot

They're all pics of my cat. The OP is pretty recent, the others are all pretty old, when he was smaller. Also when I thought he was a girl, hence the caption on >>84588449 lol
>>84588644
How do you take care of so many cats?
>>
>>84588681
hahah is he still called daisy?
>>
>>84588681
Well good to hear since he looked a bit rough in the older pics
>>
>>84588685
Yeah, I really liked the name Daisy and I didn't think he cared
My sister did recommend I extend his name to "Daisy Duke," so that's what he's called now.
>>84588687
Yeah I found him on the streets.
>>
>>84588692
>name to "Daisy Duke,"
cute!
do you have any pictures of him napping?
>>

my foid's dog pees and shits on the bed when we're away, so we just lock the bedroom.

OP having been in a similar position to your gf before, it sounds like the issue is less your cat, and more the fact that it's kind of gross because you don't take care of it properly. the litter box thing sucks and you can't totally control that, but I don't think that's the main point here - none of this stuff happens in isolation. I had an ex who didn't take great care of their cats in a similar way, and even though I'm a cat person who typically loves them, I'd be paranoid about it catching fleas, my ex not noticing or not taking care of it properly/promptly and spreading them to me, my clothes absorbing cat stink or getting pissed on, being covered in fur, etc whenever I was at their place. I understand finances can make going to the vet difficult sometimes, but when it's not your pet, imagining spending time in the same space as a parasite filled animal pissing on the place your partner (and likely you sometimes) sleep is a massive turn off for most people. your girlfriend says she doesn't like your cat, but what she probably really means is how the cat fits into your lifestyle and affects her perception of you. the overall temperament of your cat might just not mesh with her, too - which isn't her fault and you need to either take that or leave it. there are maybe other girls who are less squeamish about that stuff, but they wouldn't be your gf and would probably be slobs.
>>
I want your and your foid to die.
I will take the kitteh as reparations for a despicable sex-haver like you shitting up my board.
>>
>>84589094
I'd also add that your girlfriend is telling you she "doesn't like your cat" because she genuinely cares about YOU, doesn't want to blame YOU, and wants to be with YOU - otherwise she wouldn't bother telling you this, or blaming the cat.
it's actually a good sign that she's pinning this on the cat, and not making it about you. she said it that way because she probably respects you and just wants the issue solved, and doesn't want to hurt you. meanwhile you're on 4chan taking it personally and talking about how you might leave her for it.
she doesn't like "the cat" because of how it affects her, the relationship, and inevitably her feelings towards you. people, especially girls, can be bad at getting to the root of problems and expressing them. in this case I can say for sure she's using the cat as a scapegoat, which you might find hurtful because you see it as an extension of yourself, but you should really find a way to take better care of it. if you can't, maybe you should consider rehoming it with someone who can, instead of it suffering or leaving her so you can continue not being fully capable of balancing a pet and your relationship. again, even if you found a girl who was okay with the cat and how you currently take care of it, would it be the best thing for the cat itself?
my last ex's cat peed on their bed once, but they were a neat freak who immediately deep cleaned the entire bed including the mattress, and by the time I visited I'd never know if they didn't tell me. they used like a wet vacuum and everything, because they know accidents like this happen and don't want to sleep in a gross bed either. if you were responsibly managing the consequences of your cat's behavior so it didn't affect her, I doubt she'd dislike the cat that much. I've dated people with troublemaker cats and it's all about how responsible they are and whether or not the cat actually impacts my time with them, my belongings, and my hygiene.

You're a good guy OP. Miss my littles buddies.

Me.no likey the cat
>What could she mean by thus
>>
>>84588213
You didn't take away his old litterbox already, did you? Cats are finicky and sometimes you have to slowly acclimate them to changes. You can put the old litterbox back where it was, and put the new litterbox next to it. That'll get him used to the new one. Then you can take the old one away and see if he goes in the new one.
