Dead. Nobody finds this site anymore nowadays to replace them. 4chan has been irrelevant on the web for a long time, it's more of a twitter post aggregator between episodes of poopdickschizo spamming threads.
I'm still here because every other place is worse and I just like the anonymity and the format. My xitter acc got hit with the verification thing and I'm not going to jump through whatever hoops it's going to ask me to prove I'm hooman. If I have to use my phone to do something I am just not going to use it.

I still like it here because I dont have to watch what I say. The only alternative is Reddit where its like having a bpd demon gf where you have to constantly walk on eggshells watching what you say. Who the fuck wants to live like that

The younger generations, tail-end Z and now A, aren't coming along to increase numbers or at least replace them as older users fade out. The youngest generations now, raised on phones and ipads, basically don't use or venture out into the internet beyond their extremely limited core of websites. There's probably like 5 websites they use in total, all entertainment or social media based, differing on a person to person basis, so 4chan is not going to be included amongst those.

Time was, people would browse the internet far and wide, and aggregate to places. You'd have a pool of 20-30 core websites you'd bounce between and more you'd check out or dabble with. Now, it's just shrunk drastically. I know two kids, for who Youtube is almost exclusively the *only* website they use/go to, and they have no interest or desire to broaden their internet horizons (for better or worse)
