Should I read the Harry Potter books and watch the movies and stuff? Admittedly the Malfoid trend got me interested...
>>85731549I recommend listening to the audiobooks. Choose the ones read by Jim Dale. Pretty /comfy/. But i you just want a quick rundown in order to enjoy the malfoid trend then just watch the movies
naw, it's children's media and not that good even then

>>85731569I wonder if I can even stay focused on an audiobook... I am more used to reading. But maybe I'll give it a shot. I mean a lot of people say HP is kind of shitty anyway, maybe I shouldn't care that much. In your opinion, is it easier to read it on an e-reader or listen to an audiobook when outside?I think I'm interested past the Malfoid trend, I want to see why people are so obsessed with HP and to get a taste of that obsession myself.>>85731579I was actively disinterested in HP when I was younger, feels like I'm making up for it now.>>85731590Shift + click to hide the thread.
>>85731549Nothing in the books resembles malfoid, anon. Just watch a tsundere anime from the 2000s if you're so into bullies.

>>85731610I'm biased in favor of audiobooks because that's how I first consumed them as a very young child, listening to them on cassette tapes. So you may find reading more efficient, even though I always loved the voice acting.
>>85731646I know that, it isn't just Malfoid I'm interested in. The world itself seems really interesting. If I want more Malfoid I could just go on Twitter or something.>>85731665Hmm, having voice acting might be pretty immersive, actually. I'm getting pretty convinced I should just go audiobook.
Forgot to ask, has anyone here played the game? How is it?
>>85731778Its rather whimsical world building that became popular not because it's creative but because it was unique at the time and a vast world for kids imagination. When you think about the mechanics/worldbuilding of it all, it falls apart really quickly. But if you can suspend your disbelief, the writing is pleasant and a little dorky and the characters are endearing. I find there's plenty out there like it nowadays or that is able to improve upon the style of quirky magic world building in a semi-modern setting, but It's almost comforting especially, nowadays to read something that is properly written and invested in child protaganists, and not dumbing down the world or the writing to meet that age group.I started reading the books when I was 7 and had a themed birthday party for it all. I don't particularly like the books anymore, I watch the movies occasionally out of nostalgia. 4/10 reccomendation for fellow adults.
>>85731860Her witty and amusing writing style is a big part of what really makes the books good. That's lost in the movies, where the plot holes and shallow word building become more apparent.
>>85731913It's sad too because she really lost all that whimsy in her later writing. The movies I find quite nostalgic but I agree. Again I think the standard was much lower back then, thus the popularity
