I think some of us make our own personal memes. But that doesn't mean they are deep. Just obscure. Like you have that guy who likes to say "i look like this and say this" or whatever. I don't know his story but I can relate. It's a strange phenomenon. So what is a deep meme? A meme with many layers? but doesn't that just make it obscure again?

I think pic related is a deep meme because I've lost track of where the layers of reality and satire and trolling and memeness begin and end. This is what I remember though: there were the religion vs. atheism debates, then some Christians began pretending to be atheists based on their ridiculous strawman fantasies, then I started pretending to be a Christian pretending to be an atheist, and this is where I sort of lost track but in any case there were several more steps and this meme is the end result.
