You can use other things and you don't always have to depend on servers. I have Discord and I only talk to three people, and sometimes I simply don't use Discord at all.

I can say that if you want to talk to someone, you can talk to real-life people.

Easier said than done with the real life people. I have no means of doing so without going up and bothering strangers. While I COULD do that, because I still have traces of normalfag in me and I'm not afraid of people, I'd rather not. Usually doesn't work like that either. I don't have a common place to meet people (job full of boomers and no mutual public spaces).

Maybe you should join some niche competitive game community like an arcade fighting game
They tend to be nicer than other game communities because (most of the time) they have a genuine love for the game they play
Of course they also talk about other things and will probably explain the stuff you need to know, so you wouldn't be lost

It was long ago since I used it but i.m.e Discord is only ever good for smaller circles of friends whereas big servers is mainly for advertisement purposes and circlejerking around bad memes, but you still have to find people elsewhere for that so you may as well agree to use a better platform.
