I don't understand where the file goes when you install something on linux, especially games. I am also trying to run a game by double clicking a file that worked yesterday but mysteriously doesn't work today.
lol u failed at computer LOLE
there's some standard locations but it depends how much of your setup is under your controlOn *nix systems you could install to /usr/bin or /bin (symlink) /usr/local/bin or ~/.local/bin, games are usually proprietary trash so they'll be located in /usr/opt or ~/.local/opt or /usr/local/opt, whatever's in your /bin folder is gonna be a shell script to launch the game from wherever it's stored, try reading the script, you should also have a grasp of POSIX shell tbh
oh yeah some games will try to install a *.desktop file to your desktop, this isn't a script or a symlink, it's a stupid plaintext file masquarading as a "shortcut" and it may point nowhere, launch games directly from the /bin folder or create a symlink to it's executable on your desktop.
~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/
also if you install something via a package manager, it typically goes to /usr/binyou can check it yourself via the "which" command, for example for VLC you can type "which vlc" and it will say /usr/bin/vlclinux is really succinct when it comes to command/shell things so it confuses noobs in the same way mathematical notation confuses people who dont know a lot of math, but with experience you will learnganbatte anon, Linux is very rewarding once you learn it, dont give up!
