As particles cannot tuck below an event horizon, their gravitational attraction would cause the surrounding matter to also undergo collapse. The mass is still gravitationally attractive and it has nowhere to go. So it undergoes collapse.It's called asymptotic darkness. You don't just have to take my example for it. It's also explained by quantum scattering.
