Since you cant do live experiments with dying humans, a dead human is the next best thing.
As long as the patient has donated their body for research, it should be fine.

I read the paper and the lung survived for nine days and is stable but the relatives still decided to terminate the experiment at that point. Wish they'd let it live longer to see what happens.
