This is a bike designed with topology optimization
>>
Good luck fixing it.
>>
>>16777692
They shoulda gone for internal structure optimization and better weld spacing.
>>
>>16777692
dont like it
>>
>>16777702
>>16777717
>>16777723
you vil ride ze topologically optimal bike
>>
>>16777725
But I don't CARE about topology. I want structural integrity.
>they did function follows form
That shit is modeled on a motorcycle's areoshell. With holes in it.
>>
>>16777692
>when i saw paulie next to that frame i thought he'd lost his marbles
>>
>>16777725
give me a late 90s hardtail frame any day over that gay monstrosity
>>
>>16777725
I will not. I WILL enjoy the triangular beams.
>>
>>16777692
This is the one good use for AI.
>>
>>16777692
>FEA using properties of cast aluminum
>print using laser sintering
>bike structure shears immediately
Many such cases.
>>
>>16777702
I've never seen a motorcycle frame break unless run over by a fucking semi. Yes, e-bikes are fucking motor cycles and I'm tired of retards pretending they aren't.
>Hurr-de-durr and electric motor on a bike isn't a motor bike because than I wouldn't be able to take it on trails that ban motorbikes

>>16777692
Ebikes are a menace. They need to be regulated into oblivion and fuckers need to be banned from taking them on walking trails.
>>
>>16777889
>Yes, e-bikes are fucking motor cycles and I'm tired of retards pretending they aren't.
No, they aren't, regardless, you should be able to ride motorbikes on trails, even semi-trucks if you want.
>>
>>16777889
>Ebikes are a menace. They need to be regulated into oblivion and fuckers need to be banned from taking them on walking trails.
You need to be deported to China immediately and banned from ever returning to any western country.
>>
>>16777903
>A bike with a motor isn't a motor bike
You're fucking retarded.
>>16777905
>Nip nong ching chang chong.

Luckey for me legislation is moving my direction.
Next step: banning them from all national parks.
>>
>>16777692
These things get designed with simulations. The simulation will show you what sections of the metal have low stress and which parts have high stress, you can beef up the stressed areas and cut metal from the regions with low stress. You do so for expected loads, this optimization always creates weak modes for stress types you dont expect.
>>
>>16777929
There are five types of fatigue:
Twisteng
Bending
Shear
Tensile
Compression

FEM/FEA isn't good at modeling them all at once.
>>
>>16777728
anon that's the entire point. It's only leaving the parts you need for structural integrity
>>
>>16777692
There are no pedals so I assume you put your feet on those little nubs? Seems like it should have adjustable foot pegs.
>>
>>16777946
if you look closely you can see that the design is an electric motorcycle with mountain bicycle forks
lets all have a turn designing an electric motorcycle with mountain bicycle forks mine is going to have smaller wheels for more torque and a better gear ratio (the motor is going to be much faster than the wheel needs to be)
>>
>>16777949
i think i want chopper handlebars and also a better seat too for comfort and a car battery so it can cycle much more further than this one
>>
>>16777950
now the OP design is not very good because the user is expected to lay backwards (the position of the feet is expected to be in front of the seat) and forwards (the handlebars are too low and too far from the seat) the design is ugly and derivative of motorcycles in a way which i find to be offensive (casting the image of a fuel tank is obstructing the function of your bicycle) (there is no need for a fuel tank) i would start by changing the whole thing
>>
>>16777946
ye they focused on design rather than ergonomics, still interesting concept.
>>
>>16777903
of course they are. if it was powered by a small ICE you'd agree, but for some reason you think a powerful electric motor and 50mph isn't a motorbike.
>>
>>16778045
I think you should stay off trails so you don't get hit by electric bikes, they should totally go anywhere since they don't emit sound or chemicals which is all that matters.
plus they don't even need your trails they can make their own, just stay off them so you don't get hurt by them, pretty simple.
>>
>>16778049
oh YEAH?
>>
>>16777692
>topology optimization
the fuck does that even mean?
>>
>>16778402
it means optimizing holes
>>
>>16777692
how is this better than just using a generic bicycle frame?
looks like its heavier, just to trace a motorcycle silhouette and if the battery runs out, you can't even pedal
>>
>>16778407
I know what topology means, I know what optimization means, I don't know what topology optimization could possibly mean in the context of a bike.
>>
>>16778402
it's got electrolytes
>>
>>16778422
>hurr durr I'm a retard
not my fault
>>
>>16777945
>optimize the design
>by starting with the wrong shape
I don't think you understood me.
I am now worried that the standard bike frame is superior.
>>
>>16778450
its my fault hes a retard im sorry. you see we really wanted to do a new blacked episode where anons mom gets railed by the entire blacked cast while she was pregnant. sadly it never made it past editing because mr nosenberg said the christian fanbase wouldnt want to see their BBCs hitting the womb and causing brain trauma to the fetus.
>>
>>16778492
>by starting with the wrong shape
how do you know it's wrong?
>>
>>16778576
>aeroshell
>with holes in it
>How do you know it's wrong?
I'm going to assume you've never seen a bicycle in your life.
>>
>>16777889
>e-bikes are fucking motor cycles
I’m not surrendering money for road tax; it’s theft. Don’t delude yourself thinking the government wants to ban these things over photo safety; it’s enraged it cant currently tax people for using this useful mode of transport.
>>
>>16777889
>Printing press/Radios/TV/Internet are a menace. They need to be regulated into oblivion and fuckers need to be banned from using them without state approval.
Statists are the most evil destructive person imaginable. Where the robber-baron’s lust and greed can satiated and short respite from his wrongs can be felt, the statist does not stop. Whether it’s a misaligned morality leading the statist to believe their tyrannical horrors are good, or they conduct their actions with full knowledge and are distilled demonic evil, I’m uncertain.

>if it was powered by a small ICE you'd agree
Nope. Before socialist busybodies regulated away creativity and innovation, western nations were the industrial backbone of the planet.
If our ancestors had your regulatory mindset, the industrial revolution would’ve never occurred; imagine trying to invent the mine dewatering steam pump when you must first apply for a boiler license when the governmental department for such things doesn’t yet exist!
Heres some examples of ICE enhanced pedal cycles, some even had hub motors! Imagine how much they improved the lives of working class people who couldn’t afford a car but still needed to commute a distance. Stopped because of scum like you.
>>
>>16777889
>They need to be regulated into oblivion and fuckers need to be banned from taking them on walking trails.
Wrong.

They need to be shot in the head, no due process necessary.

>Before socialist busybodies regulated away creativity and innovation, western nations were the industrial backbone of the planet.
I think it has more to do with socialist busybodies regulating away 16-hours long workdays for children below 10 paid a product wage in company scrip. Really takes the back out of that industrial backbone.

>Imagine how much they improved the lives of working class people who couldn’t afford a car but still needed to commute a distance
Imagine the poor, unfortunate billions of souls who had their commutes improved by a bus line, instead of a transportation mean that is guaranteed to leave them with a broken backbone if used on shit roads. You love unregulated tuk tuks? Then move to Bangladesh.
>>
smaller wheels would be far better, bicycles with smaller wheels will have more torque and require a gearbox from electric motor to take much less shit from being used (the motor is going faster than the wheel needs to go in factors of hundreds of times) the smaller wheels mean you can use a smaller gear ratio inside and also smaller wheels requires less force to move from standing and accelerate faster + better up hill
consider converting a BMX instead of this mass effect zorb gay retard HALO 2 autistics gay shit OP you can put the hybrid forks on the BMX no problem and you can still use the ceramic disk brakes on the BMX wheel because the disk breaks mount to the center of the wheel (front brakes are dangerous)
>>
>>16778766
if these freaks can zorb around on their electric unicycles and scooters i can have a special motorcycle no problem
you dont even need that many watts to go over the speed limit you could register the thing as one bigger than moped and jack a 10000 watt (12HP) motor in there this bicycle is going at fucking lightspeed
>>
>>16778664
so no regulation of the road at all then? sounds great. have you ever been in places where its more like that?
>>
>>16778766
the only thing with small wheels is that they feel bumps and stuff a lot more than larger wheels. if you're staying on good roads then sure but otherwise you feel every rock and dip.
>>
>>16777692
They forgot the vestigal pedals that make it legal to ride on bike paths.

It's too late for the government to save you, the corporate money has already spoken. Amazon now has delivery """"bicycles"""" that are literally just small cars that can legally be used on bike lanes and paths.

Cyclists absolutely fucked themselves embracing the ebike thing and they're only now starting to realize it. Their sport was dying and they thought this would save it by bringing in people too fat or old to use a regular bicycle but in the end its biggest effect was turning their infrastructure into a second-class road system for people who can't afford cars.

>>16778833
I watch chinese dashcam compilations all the time and unironically 75% of the clips are retards on bikes or scooters throwing themselves blindly into traffic and suffering the inevitable consequences. People underestimate just how stupid you have to be to not be able to get a drivers license.
>>
>>16778857
i know. dont get me wrong because i completely agree that life in general is over regulated to the point of being stifled, but a bit of basic regulation is fine and helps. you can see what its like when lots of people from abroad move into a place and start driving - the standard drops and things get messy and annoying.
>>
>>16778644
I could care less about what the government wants or doesn't want I care that these fucking bikes are a menace and don't belong on walking/biking trails or in national parks.

>>16778652
Statistics are a tool. Most of the "statistics are evil" shit is because people never learn them properly so they don't recognize when they're being abused by malicious people.
>>
>>16778853
>Save you
Re read what I posted and feel bad about having the reading comprehension of a toddler.
>>
>>16778419
I think the general idea is you can use less material in optimized ways to make it stiffer across the axes of interest, maximizing some shit while minimizing weight and material. not sure if OP picrel is a good example for this, but that's the general gist of it
>>
>>16779244
>Decrease material use marginally
>Increase production cost
>Increase production time
>Increase unit price
Why though

You have no idea how much money idiots will throw at something because it's 1% faster/lighter/shinier than the model that costs a tenth as much.

bicycles are gay
>>
>>16779517
true enough. easy to lose a pound by leaving your phone at home
>>
>>16779510
F1 is for faggots
F1 also largely still uses tech from the 50s
>>
>>16779942
But if you leave your phone at home AND buy a $15,000 bike you can save *two* pounds.
>>
>>16780379
that'll get you up that climb faster lol
>>
>>16778853
This is based, thoughbeit. Why would a vehicle that seats one person have to be as wide as a 2+ person vehicle?
>>
>>16778836
i f its a bmx im pretty sure you could jump over any of those bumps or dips or even holes
>>
>>16778853
why does my elevtronic bicycle need "pedals assist" or i go to jail but this different brown people can ride his electric scooters and unicycles in the road no problem without pedals
>>
>>16780379
its true mate. what can i say? speed and besr times are so close!
>>
>>16780612
its when its sustained rough roads the problems happe. like washboard, but little wheels feel it anyway. i run 13 inch rims and its crazy what you notice compared to larger tires.
>>
>>16780412
The pendulum will swing back discnigger. No one wants a 20 pound bike.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJK_ZzccX4Y
>>
>>16779517
It's an e-bike though...which makes it inherently gay. e-bike fags ride them because they're to fat for a normal bike so why would they care at all about being "faster"... they're mostly for old and fat people so I still don't see the point.

True, the electric ones are only 14 grand.
>>
it looks like a ton of dirt and grime is going to get in all those holes from the wheels picking it up off the ground.

Looks strangely biological for a mathematically optimal structure.
>>
Damn sexxyyyyyy

>>16778671
>I think it has more to do with
It didn't.
>regulating away 16-hours long workdays for children below 10
Don't have kids if you can't afford them.
>a bus line
Private companies made the first bus lines. Government not required.
>broken backbone if used on shit roads.
Suspension exists. Quality private roads exist.
>Bangladesh.
Different race not applicable to western market dynamics.

Conclusion; socialist garbage.
>>
>>16778833
>so no regulation of the road at all then?
Essentially. Roads have functioned quite well before modern inches thick rulebooks and seatbelt mandates.

You trade cost for safety. We could make trucks much safer by restricting their speed to 4mph, but the price of delivering goods would be stupidly high.

Deregulations is always the solution long term.

>have you ever been in places where its more like that?
The genetics of populations in third world countries invalidates their behaviours for comparison to western populations.
>>
>>16779176
>fucking bikes are a menace and don't belong on walking/biking trails or in national parks.
Accept that those trails aren't your property so you can't make the rules. Else if you feel so strongly, go shoot them.
