What’s is the best book to learn calculus?
>>
>>16783810
Depends what you goal is

Stewart is just drilling exercises for example
but he drills them hard
perfect for engineers and such but not really for mathfags cause you won't learn proofs.

Spivak is real analysis in disguise. It's good as a supplement but you will probably fail miserably if it's your first try at calculus. Also it's only single-variable.

Apostol seems to be the middle ground. Has a very broad scope and focuses on both proofs and drilling exercises.

Source: I've read none of them but I'm on the same boat as you and done some research online for which one to pick and I'm leaning towards Apostol

If i had to pick some of these on the pic: Spivak for single variable, Kline for more. As Apostol only shows Vol 1, if you'd consider Vol 2 then Spivak and Apostol then

Spivac. Only Spivac.
>>
There's two spivak books. The white one is multivariable but contains a number of errors.

did you honestly learn calculus from spivak
or did you read spivak after learning calculus?
>>
>>16784576
I have to be honest, i started with a literally who calculus book from the fleamarket but soon after learning about Spivak i switched and i see no problems regarding Spivak honestly

Define "learning calculus".
I memorized a bunch of derivative and integral formulas in high school with whatever HRW "Cowculos" text they had on hand.
I Learned Calculus from Spivak.

Yes. Spivak's Calculus was my freshman text in college.
Honestly, that book and GEB (also read freshman year) changed my way of thinking about a lot of things.

They all suck honestly.

Stewart Canon (Pre-Calc + Calc)
>>
I like the cover of the book by: Chris McMullen, Ph.D.

You don’t need some fucking book get on ChatGPT and start asking questions and visualize each step on a 2d plane nigga
>>
>>16786028
This is terrible advice. The only thing you'll learn from ChatGPT is how to uncritically accept everything and AI gives you if it sounds confident enough.
>>
Doing this right now. Picked up Calculus for Dummies and Calculus Made Easy.

Follow along with the books, watch videos (Khan Academy and Organic Chemistry Tutor on YT are good), take notes, do as many practice problems as possible to make sure you understand the concepts thoroughly, then move onto the next concept.

best of luck anon
